so last night i hooked up with a friend and discovered although he is very soft spoken and mild mannered clothed, naked he is wild and rough. an interesting surprise, but the reason i'm telling you all this is that he enjoyed suckling and biting every bit of me - leaving large bruises or "hickeys". i have about three, they are quite large, purple-red and swollen (we'd had a little rum:p) although only one is in a position i can't cover.
i've heard cold spoons help, but i've never had them be this bad or big before. i searched the forum to little avail. any tips?

Many years ago...we used the old style men's hair combs---the black barber style ones with tight teethed. Hold the tissue gently and go upwards NOT down; keep working at it but lightly and repeatedly. Seemed to work for me...
Ice them, then apply concealer. That's the consensus from the girls' locker room when I was in high school and college; I wear them as a badge of pride. :D
If you're going to use concealer, though, make sure it actually matches your skintone!
Sera, that's really interesting! What got you started doing that?

Sera, that's really interesting! What got you started doing that?
Well, I was at a party, skipped off to the bathroom w/a friend for a few hours. Needless to say, came out much later with MANY. I had to go home & noticed my neck. One of the other girl's there showed me how to...otherwise my neck would have been really well...a mess. They told me to keep doing it; for some reason it did raise the spots up & dispersed them. I assume it's much like a bruise...massage it correctly and the discoloration decreases. Ever notice if you bruise you leg? And keep it down it gets darker and swollen? Raise the blood up out; broken capillaries? Learned the trick so long ago...not something really of major concern these days! LOL! I think I was about 16?????? So long ago!
wait sera... they showed you how to what?
i've only got two turtlenecks and if i keep wearing them it could get a bit suspicious, these aren't the kind of hickeys to be gone by tomorrow!
wait sera... they showed you how to what?
How to brush upwards with a comb with ease against the tissue...go up not down with an old style mans comb...the sort the barbers use (those black ones) with all the fine teeth! Just groom up starting at the base of the hickey gently and do not brush/comb down...my girlfriends showed me quick. Yes, it leaves generalized redness from the comb but not a hickey! Keep doing it over gently without destroying the outside of the tissue. Why does it work? No clue! But I will admit I had a great time but looked like a vampire got me when I came out of the bathroom w/ the guy!! We were in there for hours! If you have to us a lighter textured turtleneck...not cotton; use a silk one or put a scarf on!

You'll be the only one who notices. Wear a turtleneck today, a turtleneck tomorrow, and the next day wear a thick necklace.
I may have to try that Sera... got a nasty bruise on my leg at the minute.

Could just say you fell into a vat of leeches, always worked for me......until I actually did fall into one....:)
The spoon trick is a bit...tricky :p...just take an ice cube, rub it on a spoon. (the rounded smooth side) and let the spoon get super cold. Then, using the flat side of the spoon, firmly rub the hickey with the cold spoon upward (sorta like sera's trick) the idea is to break up the clot, and the cold is supposed to help keep the capillaries narrow so that blood doesnt "leak" back into the area.
Break out the permanent marker and give yourself some strategically placed "tattoos"...
lol i like oedi's idea
Do not associate with anyone who gives you telltale marks.
Maybe it's a primal "marking territory" thing. I prefer the art of concealment. What others don't know, won't hurt them....or me if the b/f found out...
i don't really mind them as long as i can hide or show them whenever i want. i was only worried about the one on my neck, my boss wouldn't be too thrilled, she's still sore at me for the unexpected piercing incident. i work with customers, so i didn't want to get in trouble again!
good news is, the one on my neck is gone, bad news is the ones on my chest have turned yellow and i look like i have some weird yellow-spot disease. lol.

:D
Sorry but leaving hickies is the mark of an inexperienced and under skilled lover. There is a way of doing the same thing without leaving marks. *EG*
probably, evilevilkitten. we're both young (18 and 20) but that doesn't mean i didn't fully enjoy every moment!

So would a woman who left scratch marks on your back be considered "inexperienced?" =p
Personally, I hate having hickeys! If they're somewhere they can't be seen, fine, but on the neck... not so much. I prefer kissing to sucking.
Silly man, those aren't really clawmarks, they just 'feel' as if they were.
i've been with a guy who asked me to scratch him, and he had scars on his chest from girls with long nails. it was kind of weird, but fun to see his face and to even get a few scratches myself, though not as deep as he would have liked.
This worked perfect for me!!!
I had one on my boob, it was nasty, purple, had red spots, it was just horrible, dramatically big also!!
It took two days.
I sucked on lots of lemons, vitamin K, helps your capillaries heal faster, so start suckin!
I iced it a lot!!
In the shower use a toothbrush to massage it, not brush it, just massage gently (helps blood flow).
Personally where I'm from they are refered to as hater marks. They are unsightly and sometimes take too long to go away. Plus you can kiss and gently suck on the neck without making a mark. It's too much work to hide them and do you really want people to know you been getting down?
If I leave the room covered with hickies, odds are I'm not going back. I'm with EEK.
I also like the claw marks :P
I how often some people mistake the person with the hickey as someone who has been abused?

I'm assuming you're a straight male, if not correct me, but if you leave the room covered with hickies, find out if the girl has a brother with the same preferences as she does and send him my way!
If you haven't said already, what is it that you guys don't like about them?
Straight and male, yep... I'll be sure to get his number, Justa ;)
I don't like how they look and consider them flagrant marks of low skill.
EEK, I'd have to disagree there. I've had women dig into my back so hard it's drawn blood before. No permanent scars, luckily, but it made for much discomfort when at work.
Well, hickeys are blood clots and would go away sooner than you thought. Concealers work best for those but you should try buying one that matches your skin color. You might also want to massage it and not use ice because it would only make the clot stay there. Ice is for bruises and swollen skin, not for blood clots.
