Hello,
There have been a few posts on this forum about grapeseed oil (and other vegetable-based oils) that state this lubricant IS safe to use with latex, but a whole host of inconsistent information other places on the Internet. Asking this question of a few main latex condom manufacturers usually didn't get a response, and the few that did respond either endorsed only their own lubricant and flat out avoid any answer at all. So, I would like to pose the question again and ask that anyone responding backup their answer with some valid reference:
Is grapeseed oild safe to use with Latex condoms and sex toy products?
Peace,
Dr. Z.

Welcome back. I hope things are going well for you.
Grapeseed oil(Vitis Vinifera) is a plant based oil in the same family as vegetable oils. In general, like dissolves like, and latex is also oil based.
Vegetable and massage oils(often grapeseed, coconut, mineral, or nut based) are listed as incompatible with latex condoms on numerous sites including Planned Parenthood and contracept.org

It's worth noting for your specific case that the rate of deterioration is different between various product combinations, with mineral oil being one of the worst with visible blistering within 3-4 minutes of exposure.(http://www.walnet.org/csis/med_research/oilstudy.html#footnote5) I was unable to find a specific instance of grapeseed oil tests with latex condoms and wouldn't risk the combination without access to such a specific test between the type of condom you use and the oil. Deterioration increases with duration and vigor and with your circumstances breaking would probably be more likely.
I would not use an oil based lubricant with any jelly type product, though I also wouldn't use those in the first place due to their porous nature and rapid natural deterioration. It will be fine to use with silicone products.
Funinthesun,
Thanks for the reply and research links. Maybe this is a silly question, but grapes are classified as fruit, so wouldn't it's refinement into an oil also be the same and NOT a vegetable oil? So far, I am unable to find any reference to latex compatibility with fruit-based oils.
Peace,
Dr. Z.

EDIT(I'm actually not sure if rape(Canola oil is derived from the rape seed) is a vegetable or grain)
Consider them plant-derived triglycerides. I sincerely doubt that grapeseed would be "safe".
F.,
Thanks for the chemistry review.

Rapeseed is a vegetable used for the most prevalent cooking oil in Europe. Latex is a vegetable based product - a rubber tree. Any vegetable oil will interact with it. How long? I do not know. As fun points out, stay away from mineral based oils including vaseline with condoms. To be absolutely certain, use only water based lubes with condoms.
