Many women have unpredictable cycles and it does not happen every month as with other's; therefore, how often varies. The norm is ever 28-31 days and it will last between 5-7 days. More or less you can figure if it began yesterday the 2nd then next month it should happen again about the same time in July, plus or minus a day.
Some women bleed the first few times during sex but it goes away. How long exactly? It depends on the woman. There is no standard answer.
Many women will have some bleeding when the hymen is ruptured (actually, torn, I do not know why we call it ruptured). There is some bleeding with some women for the first few times. The description you give leads me to agree with sera. She was likely quite embarassed when she realized her period had begun.
The bleeding will stop when the hymen is no longer intact. The first time the hymen is ruptured or disrupted there will be some bleeding. But that should be the end of it; however, some women will have some mild bleeding for a few time--3-4. If you are just fingering her it may still be intact. If you had intercourse, it should have ruptured.
There are no magical answers. You have 2 opinions; one from Brandye who is a Physician and from me as a Nurse Practitioner. Moreover, both of us are women who have been down the same road. As much as you search for answers, there are no more. The menstrual cycle is what is is as I explained. Brandye also lends some detail to the hymen issue.
It should. I find it difficult to give you an exact answer since I did not have any bleeding. If you cause irritation to the vaginal tissue from lack of lube, roughness, or excessive duration during intercourse, it's not uncommon to have some faint bleeding. But it's not as you described and it's accompanied with "soreness". I would attribute the walk in the park to the onset of her period. And any previous bleeding to being a virgin and the hymen being present. She can also help it out a bit. During a warm bath, she can begin to insert fingers to stretch the vaginal opening. Or she can use some toys or objects at home while masturbating which can eliminate the hymen. What you are experiencing is not uncommon...don't worry about it.

It sounds as if her period started and she did not know, given your description.
Any other useful replies people?
