Homemade Massage Gels?
Just curious if anyone ever made their own.....and how do they combat the messiness of it all?
My SO and I both have sensitive skin and I'm kind of leery of trying store-bought massage gels. Are there any "herbal" kinds or homemade ones we can experiment with? |

There are a few threads on this somewhere. Edible oils are ideal, such as almond or coconut. Coconut is very smooth, liquid at room temperature, and is the cheapest. A few years worth can be bought at the grocery store for $5 in the cooking section.
Many massage oils/gels/lubricants contain numerous chemical additives for sensation or scent that could irritate sensitive skin. |

Oh, hahaha, sorry for the old brain fart, it was a looong night....I meant oils.
So where do you actually do it? I imagine the bed sheets would be a bit messy after that. Or maybe I should get some leather furniture? At least we'd get a two-for-one: massage and the furniture gets conditioned on a regular basis? ![]() Last edited by MrsGSpot; 06-04-2010 at 06:02 AM.. |

Get a bottle of any vegetable oil (not olive, it is fragrant) and add a bit of almond extract or similar. The aromatics (patchoulie, ginger, almond, orange, whatever) to be added can always be found in most health food stores.
Lie on a beach towel.

Really, not olive??? I knew olive oil tend to become putrid much faster than other oils, but I also knew that olive oil was used in skin care on its own...
When you say vegetable oil, can you please specify??
