Imperfections

I know everybody isn't perfect. Well I know a lot of people are far more perfect than me when it comes to skin. But I've had acne for like twelve years. It's gradually gotten a little better over the years. I use to get picked on for it at times, when I was younger but it didn't really bother me back then but now that I'm older I get self-conscious that people are constantly looking at my skin. Not only has it affected my life socially it has affected me emotionally as well. It's not just on my face either it's also on my back which is gross! Hyper pigmentation is hard to get rid of. My dermatologist claims that this will go away over the months/years but I have yet to see an improvement and I've even gotten chemical peels and it just gradually make its way back onto my skin. So enough blabbing, if you have imperfections on your skin how do you deal with it?

P.S. - I do wear make up sometimes but that can make it far worst.

Remember - to the right person - IT WON'T MATTER!

BTW - are you allergic to anything?

No not that I know of kitten. I try to stay away from greasy foods and I actually stopped drinking soda and soft drinks but I still see no major improvement. Oh I keep believing the right person will come along but he hasn't come along yet..

I have the same problem you do with acne. I know its hard and very frustrating. I went to a dermatologist and she prescribed me a ton of different things to help and I can hardly keep track of all of it. Nothing has helped so far so I wear clothes that cover the acne on my shoulders and back, it sucks in the summer cause I cant wear the tank tops and I feel uncomfortable in a bathing suit. It doesn't bother my husband though, so I can tell you that there are guys out there that that wont matter to. I also wear make up to cover up it on my face and your right it makes it worse at times which I just cover up with more make up, it feels like an endless cycle.
I hope you find a solution, if something works for you please post it up here to share! Best of luck!

Thank you usmc I will tell you if I do. Tetracycline has worked before for me but it made my face very oily and you have to take it on an empty stomach for it to be very effective and it was hard for me to do so I rarely take it so the acne came back. I'm currently on three different medication. Least you found someone who loves you for you! But if I do find something I will surely post it.

Has your doctor talked to you about laser treatments?

Something much less expensive you might be able to do is to use the cosmetic makeup that is specifically made to conceal blemishes, acne, port wine stains, and, severe burns. Please ask your doctor about these products. I first learned about the makeup on the Oprah show several years ago. A major concern when first mentioned was whether or not the products were thick or heavy; apparently not.

Camouflage cosmetics are used to hide, conceal and cover various skin conditions as well as for those having a desire to enhance and improve their complexion. In addition to asking your doctor about the makeup, do a Google search. I got several hits, so there is information out there. Here is one of many.

I hope this is of help. Good luck.

Life without dancing?
I don't think so......

The feet may learn the steps;
yet only the spirit can dance!

Dancing is the fastest way to get
a girl alone and into your arms in public.

The Tango smolders and burns. It ignites the
heart, the soul, and yes, the libido.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,
it's about learning how to Dance in the Rain!

Dance as if nobody is watching.

Isn't that whole "greasy food gives you acne" untrue?

In some cases it is untrue, however if you already have acne prone skin it can make it worst. That's what my dermatologist told me.

Just improve ur diet.. eat more vegetables and less oily foods drink much water and keep ur face clean... don't get stressed out or worried about small things ... u can always use make up to cover it if it bothers u so much.... lil imperfections is what makes us different, unique and beautiful in our own special way :P
