Well, that was pretty embarrasing...
So I'm wondering...
What do you get for the paperboy who you called the cops on because you thought he was a burglar? Well if only that was the bulk of it. I wish it was, but it gets worse. Yesterday I came home from a 24 hour Walmart at 3:30 am. We've had some robberies in our subdivision so I got into the habit of circling it at night whenever I can. Well yesterday was the first night I actually passed by a running vehicle (a small truck with stuff in the back)...fast forward about 20 minutes later and I'm about 5 miles away from our house, upset because he managed to lose me through some winding intersections. Yes, I spent about 20 minutes chasing him, before he managed to lose me with his superior knowledge of nearby subdivisions. I was on the phone with 911 trying to get a police officer to come out and help, but I didn't know the street names to relay to them, and it was dark and we were speeding like crazy. I ended up calling it off (I had to because I lost him), and vowed to wait for him the next night. Well, ...sure enough he came by. Hell we paid him to. I only saw him peeling out of our offshoot cul-de-sac and start heading towards the main area of the subdivision. Fast forward five minutes later and I'm disappointingly telling the 911 operator, "don't bother sending someone out, he just left the neighborhood." I wasn't in my car, so I couldn't chase him. She talks me into meeting with an officer anyway so we could set something up where he will be nearby incase it happens again. While I'm waiting for the officer to arrive, the thought crosses my mind - "wait, what if he's the paper boy?" So my mother (who also is involved in this) runs out to the drive way to check - there it is, todays paper! Another 5 minutes later and I'm apologizing to the officer in person and trying to explain the cause of my paranoia, then it just comes out... "Holy Shit...I chased him for about 20 minutes yesterday,," He just laughed and said he understands. I don't think he realized what I actually meant by that comment though. I really hope the paper boy understands too. I suppose I should probably call down there tomorrow and apologize, so the poor guy doesn't think some crazy is stalking him. This would of been different if I had actually seen him delivering papers, but I didn't. And he definitely wasn't during the actual chase. Oh well, it just goes to show that life really takes some unexpected turns sometimes. Well I'm glad that's over! This will probably be one of those stories I never tell a living soul ever after this.
