What are your plans for new years?

So what are your plans for news years?

I kinda dug myself in a hole with lines like "you'll find out later, when I surprise you!" when she asks what it is I have planned for us. It was a mistake to even jump up and say I have plans, but I said it. We thought about a hotel room + shrimp + wine followed by lots of sex, but decided against the hotel room because we're going to have privacy at home anyway, and could use the money.

The problem is that's what we did last year (shrimp/wine/sex), and I'd like to space out the repetition a little bit more. Neither one of us really care to go out, as we're more home people. She's coming in from being out of town that day too, so I also need to get her Christmas shopping done.

I'm really curious what other couples have planned, or if anyone has any suggestions. It just occurred to me that I could make a scrap book of each month of this past year...it could be filled with photos from each month, and then I could write a page or so of what I remember we did that month. I could call it "2009." Some parts might be a bit sketchy but I think I can pull it off.

Maybe I could knit her something if it's not that hard? Would writing a few (love) letters and having them delivered on certain days be romantic, or stupid and predictable (or even possible, because I don't know how the mail system works)?

Anyway, what plans do you all have?

None, simply staying home...far too many drunk drivers will be on the road, as well as far too many cops on those same roads looking for those drunk drivers. I don't care for, nor do I have much time for either!

Perhaps if I weren't single, I'd have better plans than just sittin' home...then again, maybe not?

Home can be fun. Hmm being alone with my naked wife, or freezing and going deaf in a crowd filled with hundreds of nasty drunk people?

We have tickets to attend a New Year's Eve dance at one of the local Ballrooms. (This is considerably different than going to a bar, club, or lounge and dancing.)

For Friday, we have invited ten-twelve friends to come over about Noonish for Pot Luck and to see the Rose Parade (recorded earlier).

The only mistake is in not having thought of some ideas; you have redeemed yourself by stating your case before us. So, you're still good to go.

We thought about a hotel room + shrimp + wine followed by lots of sex, but decided against the hotel room because we're going to have privacy at home anyway, and could use the money.

There are h/motel rooms and there are h/motel rooms. Personally unless there is a super important reason for renting a luscious room, a Motel 6 or Super 8 or another one of the less expensive places works for us because we only need the place for sleeping, not "living" there. We just returned from a trip to L.A. and had a great room at a Ramada Inn for not much money. (They provided great WiFi--did anybody even know I had gone?)

Home is good, especially if you have a sexy session in some area other than the bedroom. Changing the scene can work wonders.

Before renting the room, check out whether or not it has a microwave and refrigerator. If so, you can cook the shrimp or other food beforehand and place your preferred bottle of liquor in the refrigerator, if needed.

What, no shrimp? Take some other type of food along, or, go shopping, later. Pick something that either does not require cooking, or, that can be heated in a microwave. Sushi?

The problem is that's what we did last year (shrimp/wine/sex), and I'd like to space out the repetition a little bit more.

Good idea. "Variety is the spice of life!"

Neither one of us really care to go out, as we're more home people. She's coming in from being out of town that day too, so I also need to get her Christmas shopping done.

Take advantage of the great bargains retailers are offering right now. Do not delay.

I'm really curious what other couples have planned, or if anyone has any suggestions. This is a wonderful idea. Start "pulling"....
If you have photos, take them to Walgreens, Sam's, or Costco, and have them printed instead of doing it yourself. The cost is minimal and the results of chemical processing are much better than using most inkjet printers. However, having just said that, if you want to integrate captions and photos and do have a nice printer--go for it.

As for the title, add something to the "2009"; perhaps, "2009 In Retrospect", "2009--Remembering the Good (Great?) Times", or whatever seems appropriate.

Maybe I could knit her something if it's not that hard?

I do not think it is, although, there is a long learning curve. Not enough time between now and then. Also, projects do take some time to complete. Consider doing it for 2011.

Would writing a few (love) letters and having them delivered on certain days be romantic, or stupid and predictable (or even possible, because I don't know how the mail system works)?

What do you mean that you do not know how the mail system works? Please clarify. The main concern is in knowing how long it takes to deliver a letter to its destination and then planning accordingly.

Your ideas are neither stupid or predictable. It is very romantic. In the past I have gone to my wife's office, gone thru her desk drawer and planted words of love and "I'm just thinking about you" scattered throughout a sticky note pad. I've also hidden cards in her desk and elsewhere (including her car) for her to discover. Mailing her a love note or card from time to time is very romantic. You can send it to her at work, if this is doable, and you can certainly mail it to her at home for her to find when she sorts the mail.

Of course, you can also place a love note and/or card under or on her pillow or on an end table where she sits, etc.

Anyway, what plans do you all have?
Speaking of pillows, consider purchasing some rose petals and placing them on the floor from some place to her pillow on the bed. Depending upon how many you have, you can begin in the hallway, at the bedroom door, etc. Place a nice piece of chocolate or other goodie on her pillow.

Speaking of chocolate, don't overlook having some whip cream handy. A squirt of cream works well on fruit, candy, and stomachs, etc!

This should get your imagination working. Need more ideas?

P.S. Thanks for posting this, now I better get off my a** and get crackin'. There are plans to make and implement before the 31st!

Life without dancing?
I don't think so......

The feet may learn the steps;
yet only the spirit can dance!

Dancing is the fastest way to get
a girl alone and into your arms in public.

The Tango smolders and burns. It ignites the
heart, the soul, and yes, the libido.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,
it's about learning how to Dance in the Rain!

Dance as if nobody is watching.

I think I'm going to call my boyfriend and ask him if he would like to get together for New Years or right after.

Yes, variety is the spice of life, however, starting a tradition for the two of you can be cool too. I think all your ideas are great, although knitting things quite often takes longer than you'd expect they would.

T and I are going to a friend of his's house, same as we did last year. A whole group of friends is getting together.
