maupassant will become famous soon enough
Question How do I QUOTE part of a posting?

Would somebody kindly tell me how to select part of a posting as a quote? I have tried hitting the 'quote' button and the other buttons but still end up with the whole of the posting.
Dohhhhhhhh!

This is what you get when you click on "Quote".

If you want a partially hightlighted quote, you can either delete the unwanted portions, or, you can copy and paste the parts you want quoted using the "quote=maupassant" and "/quote" substituting the braces for the quote marks.

You can highlight the quoted text without using a screen name by just not putting one after the equal sign.

Or, you can simply not highlight the text and do this:

Personally I just hit the quote button and then delete out everything in between the sets of brackets that I don't want.

Well, almost, but not quite...

If you look at your last two attempts to quote, you'll see that the code is visable and the shadowbox did not appear. This is because you omitted the second brace to the first quote, eg. [quote=
Missing is the closing brace. Add the ] and all will be well. The use of the name of the person quoted is optional. If you want the name, add it after the equal sign.
