"AARRRRGHHH!!! THe most awful words in the English language!!!! "Breast reduction"

There ought to be a law!!!!"

I think breast reduction is a great idea for women that are unhappy with their size. bigger is not always better. Having 36DD's, I can relate to the problems of having tops not fit correctly, which results in looking unprofessional or just plain sloppy. As of right now, i am losing weight so that when i have the money for it, i can get the surgery and still look balanced bc i'm a little pudgy. for girls that are size 0 or smalls or whatever though, they always look to me like they're going to fall over bc they're so top heavy.

and overly large breasts can cause back problems later in life, especially if not supported well. i know that my shoulders ache everyday bc of having to wear a bra, even if the straps are wider than normal. Breast reduction is a very viable option for many women.

However, in response to the actual question, tailoring is great. it's not that expensive either, because the clothes will last longer since they fit properly.

My wife is 42DDD and she wears button up shirts that are a tad big on her and it works ok for her although she tries to stay away from them and wears regular shirts most of the time. her boobs are to big to find anything that really fits just right.

Holy beejeezers!!! I just realized that OP said "my girlfriend..."!!! ACK!!

Sorry dude! My bad (in like a huge way)... Boy am I ashamed.

I quote the original Joker for the moral of this situation:

"Never rub another man's rhubarb"

Again, my deepest apologies.

Anyone who is so opposed to breast reduction should try walking around with the equivalent of DDD or F sized boobs for a while. When you suffer from chronic back pain, can't easily find clothes that fit and can't do certain activities comfortably, you'll change your tune.

Also anyone (in america anyway, I don't know about elsewhere) looking for a breast reduction and for their health insurance to pay for it.. better make sure you aren't overweight by more than a few pounds. Apparently insurance generally demands that you lose weight first, which makes sense but, it doesn't really take into account the fact that some women find it difficult to exercise adequately when their boobs are super huge.

Also clothes shopping really does suck for busty women. Not everyone can afford to shop at specialty stores or to have things tailored.

Raez,

The alternative is too look frumpy all the time. It is really quite inexpensive to have the seams taken in on a blouse that fits the bust. Or, maybe someone in your family has the skills.

I understand the financial aspect of finding clothes that fit busty women and of paying someone for alterations. My wife often uses the services of a tailor-the same who helps with my formal wear- and it's not that expensive unless there are several pieces at once.

I know Brandye's frumpy alternative was a bit tongue in cheek. Please don't go for the frump option no matter what your bust size is. You deserve better than that.

Good reinforcement, dlb, and that was NOT a tongue in cheek frump. Otherwise svelte women with large breasts can look like their clothes are from Omar the Tent Maker.

Grew up in a family of large breasted women, married into a family of large breasted women -feel free to analyze away I have seen, on numerous occasions, svelte yet busty women look as if they have beer bellies just because of a poor selection of blouse, sweater or other upper garment.

I am a fan of What Not to Wear, the original BBC production with Trinny and Susannah. They always have excellent advice on how the bustier ladies can best show off their figures BEYOND the bust whether elsewise svelte or not.

Avoid the American version like the plague! Ugh. Fran Fine's tacky sister and the most fashion clueless gay man in the universe! Ugh!
