That was one of those moments where you'll never forget where you were and what you were doing.
I was at work, commiserating with a colleague about not wanting to be at work that day. I didn't fully understand the concept of what was going on until I heard my supervisor say, "You guys, they've hit the Pentagon." The words "...THEY'VE HIT the Pentagon" truly struck me in that moment-this truly was an attack. I work in a federal office building in Iowa, and our building evac'd. But I knew I couldn't stay at home all day watching it or I'd be a basket case. So I called in and requested to work my part time job just so I'd have something to do with my day to preserve my sanity. Walking to work (6 blocks) in the middle of the Midwest, I couldn't take my eyes off the sky, looking for danger. Last edited by lnt1103; 09-11-2008 at 05:50 AM.. |

I was home, saw the second plane hit. I am sorry but I didn't understand why anyone would of gone back into those buildings. I have a friend, who is an MD, that worked 25 blocks from there. He has told me some of what he saw and I let him speak, he needs to get it out.
I haven't been back to NYC since then, after spending so much time there in jr and senior high, fiance lived on central park west, I don't know how I would react to seeing the change in the city. Not to look out and to see those buildings may be something I would not be able to deal with. |

Was on the group of days off; was put on emergency call until the collapse. Later was sent in for relief work purposes. I've never returned to the site for various reasons. Lost friends & colleagues; however, made many. The sad part it one of the jets flew down the river not far from my home, too bad it was not strategically shot down before it got that far.

We also need to remember "the heros" that died in the plane that crashed in PA. Bless the friends and families of those on flight 93, and those who for some reason were not on board. I saw a tv show about this the other night and it was well done.

One one day was the beginning of many lives lost in NY, Pentagon, PA, and abroad. Not one life lost should ever be forgot, ever.

I was watching TV late that evening (remember, I live in Australia), and was about to go to bed. Just before I did, I flicked channels and saw a video image of the second plane hitting the building. It didn't quite register at first that this was the real thing, but pretty soon all the channels were showing it. I stayed up late that night and watched the whole awful drama unfold. The next day, on the way to work, it was the only thing that people were talking about. I must admit that I had a pretty grim feeling that day. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the people in NYC, for the families of those who lost their lives, and especially for those who were trapped in the burning buildings.
