Define drunk, LOL.
Yes, there are people who can remain legally intoxicated or impaired for 12 hours. Than there are those who are alcoholics who remain at constant high levels and many never appear impaired. How do you do this....stop slamming them down...drink in moderation all day; not to the point of making yourself ill. Also be certain to drink water... However you will still feel like hell the next day! ![]()

I guess drunk would mean feeling nice and impaired but not neccessarily in a falling down the stairs way...
I have been trying the whole moderation thing but that usually leads to sobering up way too soon. Unless I just drink hard liquor, in which case it doesn't matter because I just end up passing out cold eventually... I used to be able to do this - guess I'm just getting too old.

I just find if you drink good vodka--minimum of triple distilled with tonic water and take it easy...I am good to go for the day if at a party. With vodka I can drink most men under the table....beer I cannot stand (the US stuff). Wine I love but it hits me harder... I almost think it has to do with the absence of preservatives or the purity of the alcohol--"Grey Goose" for me either with tonic or as a gimlet.

Sounds like fun. But I'm pretty sure I could vodka drink you under the table, sera. I drink the stuff straight all the time. I've actually grown to like the burn afterwards.
Grey Goose? Damn that stuff is expensive. I buy the cheap stuff because no matter what straight vodka will always taste like cleaning supplies...

Stay on one type of drink, drink gradually until pleasantly drunk... switch to not alcohol until you feel you might sober up a bit, have another alcoholic drink to 'top up', switch back to water or whatever, repeat...
Works for me. I use vodka and mixer because I suffer from a severe dislike of most alcoholic substances (beer, wine) - certain spirits, liquers and cocktails are really the only thing I can take in without a strong impulse to projectile spit the horrid stuff away from my taste buds. |

Why would you want to do that? Quite frankly, I had my fill of getting drunk in my younger days. All I did was end up getting massive hangovers the next day, and kid myself that I had a really good time the night before in order to justify it. I'm over that now. These days I enjoy drinking just to the point of getting merry, and losing a few inhibitions, but no more than that. I just don't see the point. Getting drunk is highly overrated, in my opinion.

Hah! I have mastered the art of getting comfortably drunk without a hangover or ill after effects.
I have NEVER had a hangover in my life, even when I drank 2 bottles of wine alone. Recently, I was at a Christmas party and I had 5 glasses of wine, a whiskey coke, and Bailey's on ice. This was over dinner, and I felt great after. I walked a bit funny and kept laughing for no reason, but I never felt sick or regretful about drinking it.
