Numbing electric tingles?

Hi all, I am new here, and may very well be bringing up an already asked question. I have, however, searched for similar topics, and have found that there is mention of what I experienced, but not entirely... so I am hoping that this is not an over-answered question.
Over the weekend my girlfriend was treating me to some oral pleasure, and I started to get tingles around my lips and the tips of my fingers (which I have had before, so nothing new there), but after quite a while I started to notice that these tingles were becoming more and more like numbness, which spread across my face entired, my hands were completely tingling before tightening in an odd posture, beyond my control. I eventually had to ask my girlfriend to stop when I couldn't feel my face anymore. I was breathing wildly (deeply and heavily).
I guessed that the numb face and hands were a direct result of breathing too heavily or something, but then once she stoped my face felt as if i had been injected with anesthetic, the numb tingles started to affect my legs, then my entire body was numb with electric tingles like pins and needles.
It felt pretty good, even though it was very alarming and more than just unexpected... especially seeing as I did not climax...
Then, to top things off, as if the rest of this wasn't strange enough already, I stretched my arms back... which caused my muscles to... well... creak. It isn't easy to describe that sensation, but I could feel each strand in my muscles around my shoulders.

Has anyone ever experienced anything quite like this (not only tingles in the fingers and lips...), and if so, is there anyone who can explain what causes these sensations? And one more question... can the human body release massive amounts of chmicals which cause such sensations?

I'm a bit freaked out... even though it did feel incredible.

I have felt this before, it was due to me tensing up for long periods of time i couldnt feel my whole body! i think it might be something to do with the lactic acid that builds up in the muscle area i think.

Ok cool, thank you for your reply... i think you might be right about the lactic acid build-up, seeing as I have had a physically demanding / draining weekend.

lactic acid is painful, and is due from muscles working with no oxygen. i dont think its lactic acid build up, that usually happens a while after physical activity, and usually heavy activity. could be just your nerves...

Make sure you don't hold your breath lol. Ummmm I have heard of some guys like about killing them selves from not breathing during sex.
