First time masturbating?

I'am 15 1/2 and I masturbated for the first time. I don't know if i did it right. I stuck my finger in the middle of my vagina up and felt this lumpy thing and when I looked at a diagram is was the middle of my vagina is that ok? Or i shouldn't be sticking my finger up there when I masturbate. I hope i didn't break my hymen or anything. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the SI101 Board and its Forums. I hope you enjoy participating. Please begin by familiarizing yourself with the FAQs, the Posting Guidelines section, and especially the Index, all found at the top of the main screen. The Index contains links to helpful, informative, insightful, as well as how-to articles. Reading these will give you much knowledge and this is empowering.

Was this a one time event or have you been repeating this every so often? Masturbation generally leads to an orgasm, although, a person can do it and not. If you have not experienced an orgasm then while you may or may not have done it correctly, you did not proceed far enough to build your arousal and sexual tension and then trigger a climax. You definitely know if you have an orgasm!

Mother Nature plays a trick on all of us by giving us the capability of making babies, yet for girls, not giving you the initial ability to enjoy orgasms. This is a process that takes conscious effort and must be learned. What has to happen is to connect all the sensitive nerve endings in the skin with the pleasure center of the brain along the autonomic nervous system. For boys right out of puberty this happens pretty much automatically.

The Anatomy of the Female "O"

This article will provide some background information on the subject. There is also a link to another article that gives pointers on learning how to masturbate. The Index also has other articles on the the various aspects of the female "O", that you might enjoy reading.

But of course it is OK. The lump or knobby part you touched is the neck and mouth of your cervix.

Your finger is not nearly as long or as big around as a typical penis so unless you have long fingernails there is no harm in inserting a finger. Eventually, when you make out with a guy, he will probably (want to) do this matter of factly. There are no nerve endings in the vaginal vault, although, there are many sensitive nerves in and around the vaginal opening. I'd concentrate your initial efforts at touching and stimulation here. What you will probably discover is that inserting a finger or a dildo (toy), or in Brandye's reference--a long necked cologne bottle, provides a sense of fullness that is enjoyable.

Whether you involve your vagina when masturbating or not is up to you and will likely change day to day based upon mood and desire

Many girls who are physically active or involved in sports often find that their hymens have eroded away by the time they become sexually active. If you use Tampons, then their use can also open the membrane. Many girls will take matters into their own hands and open it before having sex in order to help make this important event easier.

IMPORTANT NOTICE--

Virginity is not based upon whether a person's hymen is intact or not. In Western cultures being a "virgin" is based upon whether or not a penis has ever been slipped inside the vagina, not, as in some Middle Eastern societies that the hymen must be intact, no matter what! So, are you a virgin? We take you at your word, it is that simple.

If you want to know the condition of your hymen, take a look. Take a hand mirror and light and go exploring. Every woman should know what this area looks like and become familiar with all of her "pieces-parts".

Feel free to pleasure yourself as often as desired. You probably will not be doing it as often as most guys, because females of the species have additional ways of dealing with stress; because there is less testosterone in your body, and, because orgasms are not a necessary part of your life as they are for males of the species. So, learn to enjoy your orgasms, knowing that if they happen, fine, if not, this is fine, also. What is important, is that you do it enough in order to establish all the connections. Later when it comes time to turn the reins over to a partner, you can then guide him in how to do this for you.

I hope this is of help. Please read all the articles and then if you have questions, do not hesitate to ask. We're here to help. Welcome aboard.

Most women are entirely capable of masturbating without inserting anything into themselves. You have done good exploration and found your cervix. Anything inserted into your vagina is likely to rupture (or tear) your hymen. Sounds like yours is gone if you felt no discomfort sticking your finger in that deep.

Sometimes I do use an old cologne bottle that has been around for years but I generally masturbate with fingers alongside the lips and clitoris. My g/f use three fingers and I have known women who cup the entire area in their hands. We all develop our own techniques. Some women always insert something and others, rarely do.

Get a mirror (make-up mirrors that magnify are grea) and a good light; sit on the edge of your bed and look yourself over with the diagrams to guide you. You will see the outer parts that are shown on the diagram. If the hymen is there, or shreds of it, you will see them. If it is gone, so be it; tampons have done it in.

There are some suggestions on the Board. Another site, clitical.com, is devoted to female masturbation and I sometimes recommend it to curious patients. Think of this experience not as masturbation so much as the initial step to learning how your body is put together. We all should start there.

OMG - forget the hymen - it means nothing and has no importance whatsoever.

The thing about females and masturbation is that while everything's there and ready - the wiring has not yet been completed - until she has masturbated to orgasm and can do it reliably each and every time attempted.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to stimulate the clitoris either by hand or by using a small vibe called a Clitoral Stimulator. A small bit of lube and off you go.

It is NOT necesary to insert anything anywhere.
