quick question, my girlfriend who is 17 and i have just began having sex, she has since ive known her always suffered from bad cramping on her period and her mom is going to put her on birth control to help with the pains.
my question is, at 17 in texas, can the doctor tell your parents you are sexually active when going to the doctor for the pill?
can the doctor tell the difference in intercourse and being fingered? we have only had sex 3-4 times
thanks alot!

i think so
No at 17 her sexuality will not be discussed with your parents. Especially under these circumstances. Parents can beg the doctor and the doc will not tell. There are confidentiality laws and ethical standards.
A doctor will only be able to tell if the hymen is broke on exam. Regardless, whatever you and your g/f are doing, your girlfriend needs to be honest with the doctor. It's confidential.
Also, doctors and nurses want people to be safe & comfortable talking; therefore, they are not going to divulge any extra info to parents or anyone else to betray a patients trust or to violate an ethical standard.
There is no way a doctor can tell if a woman has had sex of any sort. If the hymen is intact, we gerally assume "virgin but if the hymen is not intact, we assume nothing. There are so many ways to tear the hymen that we simply do not know. Besides, the doctor would not really care and is bound not to discuss virginity status with anyone.
I assume that it will be up to your g/f and the doctor whether she gets put on the pill. I sometimes have mothers show up demanding that their daughters be put on the pill. They get a bit upset when I do not allow them in the exam room with their daughter. We know what is going on.
Many doctors do use "the pill" as the first choice in treating dsymennorhea in mid-teen women.
