Do you mean you are so much a loyalist that you would put up with all the attacks and problems these cause, rather than go to a protected o/s that has a very very small ability to be corrupted from outside sources? I'm tired of it even when running an anti virus program and several that take care of other things that creap in.

Ubuntu can be evaluated simply because it will run from a DVD disc and need not be installed unless you want to. It will also run Window apps, although, how compatible or fast has yet to be determined and will be one of the things I want to evaluate.

Not in so many words. I'm just too pessimistic and lazy to take the chance that another OS might be as bad as Mac.

How do you save things to Ubuntu when it's not installed on the hard drive? Do you rewrite the disc?
