(since we're trying to let the other topic die, I'm starting a new "peaceful" one.)

I'd like to point out a reply in this topic here:
http://www.sexinfo101.com/cgi-bin....;t=4801

New member. No idea that he couldn't start a post because he never replied to another topic till that one.

So I ask, can this feature please be turned off?

Yes it's effective against spammers, but it's blocking people from starting topics they want to start.

Like 30 people have now registered and 3 or something have posted.

This place is pretty much dead now because no one can post anything because for starters, no one knows that they can't post anything till they've replied elsewhere.

The spam was annoying. Yes. But I'd still rather see spam and 50 more "is my penis big enough" questions than to see no new posts in days and none of the new people being able to ask the questions they came here to ask.

(Peaceful? Good Luck! LOL)

Perhaps the earth will tremble... the sky will fall...

BUT

I AGREE WITH TEASE!

I don't watch "the numbers," but I'm not surprised.

As I've attempted to say before, "Less rules, more tolerance" will make the board - and the world - a better place.

Hi sweetheart, I'm glad a 'cooler' thread has been initiated for the discussion of this fractious topic. *I will analyse and make recommendations in factual style.

Problem 1: Spam.

Solution: Removal of thread-creation rights for newbies.

Effect: Spam eliminated.

Side-Effect; Slowdown of site traffic due to transients (newbies who come not to contribute, but only for us to attempt resolution of their immediate issue(s) who then promptly leave) being unable to start threads;

Problem 2: Transients forming 90% of all newbies.

Solution (albeit inadvertant): Removal of thread-creation rights for all newbies.

Effect: Transients no longer taking information and leaving.

Side Effect: The remaining 10% of newbies who wish to contribute being unfairly punished.

The Overall Cure

Creation of a separate, well-signposted subforum where ALL newbies, transients and contributors alike, are automatically granted thread-starting rights upon joining, and indeed may start threads on ANY topic, sexual or otherwise, so long as it falls within usual site rules;

Creation of a secondary Moderator for this subforum to grant newbies thread-starting rights to the remainder of the site according the individual newby's merits - those rights, effectively, being conferred to any newby who is clearly not a spammer nor foaming at the mouth at the first thread. *I understand a trustworthy member and active contributor has already volunteered.

Jaybee.

or we could skip that mess and give one of the regular members mod rights.

Creating a separate sub forum would cure nothing because most of the traffic would end up there and people would complain the main site is dead. Also if it would automatically allow any new member to post, then your just going to have the same spam problem you had with the main site. You may say well the “member mod” can take care of it…well in that case why go through all the bother of putting up a sub forum and setting up the rank systems when you could just make a member moderator on the main forum…just a waste of time to do the other

finewine is on a distinguished road
mmm, I think another forum would be a good idea just to have another forum for the romance novels, play by play and flirting...that not is pure entertainment but related to a question about love, sex, and sexuality.

I don't think the main site will go dead. I think the new forum will give more choices, be a win/win for everyone and enhance the main site.

and
I think with all our modern intellect couldn't there someway be a filter created for spam so legitimate newbies don't have to deal with any kind of new restrictions and we don't have the spam.

I think we are stuck in boxes in our thinking.. let's explore other possibilities. Come from different angles...synergize and create something better and have droves of new posts and new members and please ALL the old members.
I'd like that. I think of everyone here as a friend.

rambling sorry...

Here is something I have noticed. Not sure if anyone else has noticed it.

I have been seeing newbies (or first time posters) actually putting their question in an already started thread that may have died many months back.

I, personally, think this is mega cool! Bringing back some old threads. AND this means people are actually searching for their problem, most likely reading a good bit of it, then elaborating on it with their question.

Has anyone else noticed? I know it kinda sucks to make it hard for newbies to post a thread, but it's also kind of eliminating a new thread on penis size, two days after someone else just started a very similar thread.

Whadya think?

I say flog em.....

Seriously , bringing back old thread s is GREAT!!! I search the hell out of this board sometimes.. and I havent had to start a thread yet.... the answers are already here. The restriction on newbies is cause the multiple thread thing... I mean just HOW many penis size threads can we handle :P Now the whole legitimate newbie thing would involve someone to screen.. like on a board I used to mod we had a thing where they couldnt post at all until they were emailed back and screened. VERY time consuming, but we simply didnt have some of the BS other boards deal with. Its a question of who has the time and inclination.

spam is spam is spam.. it will NEVER go away.. LOL! I just ignore it.. but I can se how it would irritate some and newbies would get the wrong idea.. IF they were new at this whole internet message board thing. Im not and thats why I just ignore the crap. I surely dont judge a board or members by the spam LMAO!

But some of those topics are dead for a reason. One of mine was brought back for no reason at all. I had to edit it so people would stop responding in it.
Most of the topics I see being brought back are ones where the original person has already disappeared cause the question was already answered. Why bring back something like that? If it's been dead for two months there's no sense in bringing it back.
That just says to me the person isn't reading the posts. All theyr'e doing is skimming the first post of the thread and responding to it, not bothering to see if it's already been answered. No sense in adding your 2 cents if the person isn't going to see it.
And it was mostly just one person bringing back all the posts. We always have people like that every now and then. It's nothing new.

And out of the like 50 new people that have registered, only like 9 or 10 have posted. It used to be like for every 5/6 people that registered, at least half would post. Now it's not even near half.
So, I still want to see the restriction lifted.

I guess I'm gonna go with it's not gonna be lifted.... even if new members are now starting posts in existing topics that have diddly squat to deal with the original topic.... which I find fairly annoying.
