Pop up ads?

During the last couple of visits to the board I've experienced several "pop up" ads... nothing overwhelming, but at least one or two per visit.

Since I'm not much of a surfer I don't run any pop up blocking software - never had much of a problem with it. Not being a technical genuis, I can't be sure that these ads are being generated by the board, although they only pop up when I'm here and it's always the same two ads.

So the question for administrators is... is this a change that's been made?

Are others now getting pop ups?

It's probably spyware on your computer that has just attached itself to a certain site. That sometimes happens to me on livejournal, which I know doesn't have popup ads, so I just run a spyware check and it solves the problem.

I agree with Tease that it is more then likely spyware. You need to have some good spyblaster like ad-aware or Spybot search and destroy.

Also if you get the yahoo tool bar which is very easy to do it has its own pop-up blocker that works really good for me.

Sexinfo101 has NO pop-up ads ... the other posters are correct in their assumptions about 3rd party pop-ups and the cure for them.

I recommend using both Ad-aware and spybot. Also, I dled pop-up blocker and it has been doing wonders for me. You mgiht also want to be doing search for knwons spyware as well. And do not dl Hotbar. It's annoying and difficult to remove. If you got it somehow, msg me for the link for uninstallement of that goddamn thing. Good luck

Here.s the link where I got some of the stuff. http://www.surferbeware.com/free-downloads.htm *My recommendation from it is Spybot, Ad-aware, and I think the first popup blocker, however I can't be sure. If then you dl it you get something that looks like a hand on your start menu, thats it. Browse that site, they do have so ratehr good stuff on it.
Edit: At the moment, I'm checking out SpywareBalster. Gonna elt you know how that is then I had mroe time with it.
