Members are "ranked" by number of posts as follows:

Rookie - less than 10
Newbie - over 10
Junior Member - over 25
Member - over 50
Sub Guru - over 75
Guru - over 100
Super Guru - over 150
Ultra Guru - over 225 (new classification)

Just wondering....does the relevance of what a person says in a post have any bearing on what rank they have. I mean I could go to every topic and say hi and theoretically get 150 posts and become a super guru. just something to consider...maybe we could restructure the ranking system.

Hi Sven,

By "relevance" affecting rank, I presume you mean how we might "value" each post. Interesting idea, but unfortunately impractical. Although some posts undoubtedly are more interesting and insightful than others, we (moderators) do not feel it is our place to say what value a post has to the reader. "Rank" here is more a reflection of a person's participation; as long as their post has SOMETHING to contribute, it is welcome and valuable.

I know you only meant the saying "Hi" or whatever in every topic as a rhetorical question ... not that you WOULD do it! But in answer to your question, if a person's "ranking" is THAT important to them, then I guess they could do what you suggest . However, I think most other board members would get quite ticked at them for wasting members' time and (frankly) the moderators would take a pretty dim view of it.

As a general note: Board members are pretty vigilant when it comes to applying peer pressure to keep time-wasters in line. We (moderators) do occasionally (reluctantly) warn members of inappropriate posts (and can ban a member if absolutely necessary). I think it says something about the quality of the members of this board that we have not had to ban a single member yet!

Hi Members,

As a further way to recognize participation on the Board, the new classifacation of "ULTRA GURU" has been created for Members who post in excess of 225 posts.

So far we have only one Ultra Guru (congratulations Brandye!), but there are at least a couple more Members who are in "shouting distance" of this landmark.

Just a bit of fun - but it is important to acknowledge those who make an ongoing contribution!
