false positive preg tests

I have PCOS and done a clomid cycle last month, im now 7 days late (i dont get period anyway on my own so this isn't unusual for me) I done home preg test and it was faint pos so i have done another 3 all really faint pos, i went to the doctor and had test done and it was neg( no suprise really) my question is how can so many home preg tests be wrong? i thought that they were 99% accurate.

A home preg test is either positive or negative...there is no middle of the road, just many like to interpret them. You see the line for a positive result...if it does not look like that then it's not positive! Best I can tell you...but they are very accurate.

i can see the 2nd line(pos line) on the test but its faint, i used the same tests 2 months ago for my 1st clomid cycle after losing the twins and there was no 2nd line at all but this time all test have a 2nd line but just not dark like the control line. Im sure im not pregnant as when i sat down and worked out my cycle we weren't intermete around the time i should have ovulated, so im not debating whether im preg or not , i just want to know how can so many hpt's have given the wrong result.

As with all tests they do have failure rates. Why this type w/you? No idea. It can be due to user error or error in the test it's self. HPT's are also used in doc's offices & hospitals; just bought in bulk. Then the are serum test which are most accurate. To have a false positive is much more rare then a false negative...

I always recommend that women get two test kits of different brands. Sera is quite right that the serum tests are much more accurate.

Did you want to get pregnant? If not, then why don't you try using something to prevent it, then you won'y have to worry about defective test.
But , if you are trying to be with child, go see your doctor and consult with him or her and find out if they think you should be trying, since you lost your twins, your body may not be ready yet. Avoid the risk of another loss, maybe your trying to soon. As your friend, I wish you all the best, and would not want you to go through losing another one. Be well, and take care of yourself.

Have anymore questions let me know I did 3 rounds of clomid to get pregnant with my second child and know a lot about difficulty conceiving.
