So here's the scoop, 2 months ago my doctor switched me from a tri-cyclen to a progestin only pill (Ortho Micronor). I started the new pills, as directed, on the first day of my period. However, about 10 days into the new pills I had my period again. Not just spotting, full on heavy period and then didn't have a period at all at the end of that month as I normally would. Naturally I attributed it to switching pills. Now I've about finished my second month and haven't had any bleeding whatsoever. My period is now about 4 days late. I know that the new birth control could easily have just whacked out my cycle, but just to be safe yesterday I went ahead and took a home pregnancy test, with a negative result. So now I'm just wondering if I should just relax and see if I get a period again sometime over the course of the next month, or if I should take another test. How long is it ok to go without a period, if I am in fact, not pregnant.

Thanks

My girlfriend and I have been together for about two years and have been having sex throughout our relationship. I have never thought much of it, but after going through an additional health class in college, it has me a bit worried.

During intercourse, my girlfriend "hurts" in certain positions and we try to avoid them. The most painful are anytime she is on top or doggy style. Most other sex positions are fine and we have no other issues. I do not have any symptoms of anything, although that doesnt mean much when it comes to STDs. My girlfriend says she feels sharp pain in her pelvic area. During intercourse if I hit that "spot" sometimes it is so bad that she can't continue. Anytime we try to, the pain is unbearable at that point forward. Even in the positions that used to work.

Any ideas or whatnot would be appreciated.

OK, so one of my friends has been having sex with a few people in the last few weeks. She basically will do it with anyone. I've been having sex with her, but I'm not really sure if she has any STD's. I don't want to bring up the subject of testing for them, because she would get pissed at me. How do I handle this? I don't want to get herpes or anything haha. But can you guys help me figure out what to do?

So obviously the pill can have the side effect of reducing sex drive in a woman. I guess it completely varies from woman to woman, are different brands likely to have different effects on sex drive? If one pill reduces it, is it worth trying a different type or chances are the same kindof thing will happen?

Also, if you go off it for a couple of months then back onto the same one, will it neccesarily have the same side effects or not?

I've been having a little penile issue lately. I feel a slight "itching" in my urethra (I think). I feel the need to put pressure on it in my perineal area. I'm uncircumcized, and when I retract my foreskin it often has a foul smell. Sometimes I feel a little urinary urgency. Do we think this sounds more like a UTI or chlamydia?

I just went on a 10-day course of Amoxocillin, 1750mg twice a day. Large dose, but the pharmacists I've asked seem to think that with the combination of 1-my diabetes 2-everything that's going around and 3-how hard it can be to get this crap to leave the sinus passages and ears, a little aggression isn't a bad thing.

The bigger question I have is this: not knowing I'm on a Minera IUD, the pharmacist was careful to warn me of the effects antibiotics can have on BCPs. However, he was unsure if it will affect the effectiveness of the IUD.

(Before anyone cautions me that condoms should always be mandatory, I know that. But for the fact that I have been in the same committed relationship for two years, I would do so. There is absolutely zero risk of STD, and as far as pregnancy we figure we're fine with my IUD.)

Hey,

I have been on several different pills in the past including Loestrin, marvalon, microgynon and the most recent cerazette. I was given cerazette last because i told the doctor i get migraines it was ok, i had my period non stop for 3 months then had nothing. the other pills i used i wanted to help my acne also.

I stopped using cerazette at the beginning of april. im still not back to normal yet as i didnt have my period until aug 2nd and then not again until last week. Ive also had the occasional spotting and just dont generally feel normal. My acne has gone completely out of control, it is worse than it has ever been before. Im not sure whether this is due to stopping the use of the pill.

I have started seeing someone new and we have been talking about starting to use the pill again (we are both going to get checked for stds etc before hand). However im not sure what i should consider or whether its too soon to go onto another pill and i should let the effects wear off for longer? I also wanted something that would help to clear up my spots. I have had migraines all my life, they are not since i started taking the pill (i started aged 18, 21 now) but i also dont get them very often. Im not even sure if they can be classed as migraines anymore as although they are extremely bad, 90% of the time if i take paracetemol or ibuprofen it clears up within about an hour or so.

Does this mean i could go back onto the combined pill as ive heard pop are worse for spots. Or is there another method that i could consider?

Sorry for the essay!

Thanks

I'm on Ocella for birth control, but I missed a pill last weekend (Saturday) which was the end of the first week of my pack. Also I haven't been very good about taking it on time lately (it sometimes varies by about half an hour or so). I had some pretty heavy, almost period-level spotting for about five days afterwards.
My question is this. I had unprotected sex a couple of times yesterday, without realizing (stupidly) that it might be a problem because it's only been about a week since I missed a pill. He didn't pull out, and finished inside me. I'm kind of worried about this, and so I'm wondering if I should take Plan B just in case. Do you guys think that would be wise, or just unnecessary? Thanks so much.
