Surely there are inherent dangers with this practice? I am sure some professional will pick this up, but are there not bugs in the anal canal which live happily there and do a lot of good. Outside of that domain they can cause a lot of problems, hence the need to wash hands after going to the toilet.

Anyways, salmonella and ecoli are some of the notorious bastards who leave the body through your stool. One of the reasons you should be washing hands after the toilet! After washing: no harm done, same goes for your anus. So: National Sex Educationcenter in Belgium states that rimming is perfectly safe. Just keep up good hygiene and be careful that there are no wounds or infections in your mouth or on your partners anus. Of course: you should be careful about STD's. So don't go there unprotected unless you are in a steady exclusive relationship.

I don't think rimming poses the same risks as "ass to mouth". You can clean the anus easily, it's outside your body. Rimming can be done safely. But when a penis goes in a rectum, there will always be feces on it. That's dangerous to ingest. The appeal of ass to mouth is that it's unhygenic. There is no wiping or cleaning of the penis between the anal sex and the oral sex.

O, then I totally misunderstood! Thanx for clarifying, dear Ravishing.

If the rectum is empty, you'd have little chance of actually seeing feces on the penis/condom after anal sex. Some even clean it out prior with a douche or enema. Yet: inside the rectum it can't be cleaned as good as on the outside of the anus (as Ravishing points out). Unprotected anal sex could therefor lead to urinary track infections on behalf of the penetrating male. And if anal sex with a receiving female partner is not handled properly, this could cause her infections as well. This is the reason why you won't go ass to vagina.

So I'd say you won't go ass to mouth. Only safe way would be: have anal sex with a condom and remove (and put on a new one, if desired) before penetrating anywhere else. If the penetrating male is willing to take the risk of unprotected anal sex, than he should wash up very thoroughly before taking his penis anywhere else. Like that stupid little film says: yes, 'it could happen in the heat of the moment'... but people don't make the best decisions on that moment, do we?

O, and don't forget STD's here! Also transmitted through anal/oral sex.
