Yeah, I've seen it - it's inane garbage. Maybe I'm just astoundingly open and honest, but I can't see how anything they ask these people is shocking, embarassing, or even halfway interesting AT ALL. If someone's mariage can be ruined by questions like "Do you ever look at women other than your wife?", then they're too moronic, immature, and inept as human beings to be married in the first place...
For anyone who's unfamiliar with how banal this show is, here's an example: Host: Have you ever looked at another man naked in the lockerroom? Audience: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Contestant: (Pretends to contemplate the question for 1-2 minutes for dramatic effect) - Yes... Audience: GASP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on - That's not even interesting enough to ask someone in a private conversation, let alone to show on national television as "entertainment." What's next - "Did you ever pee your pants in kindergarten?" "Have you ever forgotten to brush your teeth?" Who the hell cares? It'll be cancelled soon due to complete and utter public disinterest. And not a moment too soon. It should have never been picked up in the first place. After making the pilot episode, they should have realized that there wasn't a show there and cut their losses. I think they can write off "failed concepts" as tax deductions...

Reminds me of Henry David Thoreau.. I think it was in Civil Disobedience, where he describes human nature as gaining pleasure from other's suffering. It's as if when people see a building burning, they stand around and watch the firemen put it out. Same thing when driving by a car accident, instead of stopping and helping, people just look. It's a horrific theory but fascinating.

Don't mean to sound petty, but if a building is on fire it would be wise to let the firemen deal with it as they have the proper equipment and training. Same as with car accidents.
I do acknowledge that there are some cases where pitching in to help is called for, just don't put yourself in a situation were you can become an additional victim/worsen the situation. And of course, so not to detract from the thread: I also think that show is despicable.

I haven't seen this show... but my b/f and I were griping about something similar the other day. One of our fave shows Jericho was cancelled after the first season...then after the fans got behind it... CBS brought it back for a 2nd season...but yet was cancelled again!!!
We were saying how good intelligent shows get pushed to the side by crap like American Idol/ Dancing w/ the stars...and pretty much any other Reality crap out there ![]()

As far as I am concerned; they can keep all the reality TV shows; they get more idiotic by the moment. Don't forget we have the Super nanny & Wife Swap. What disgust & strange behavior! To sit and actually watch this is outlandish. However, the more people watch; the more they will re-invent.
What ever happened to educational TV? To watch something of interest, you have to now subscribe to new TV channels. Cable and such forces the consumer to purchase something of value. Meanwhile, others sit in front and watch these shows and interpret them as real life. ![]()

Knight,
I'm not saying people should help, but all they do is stand around and watch, is that necessary? Crowding around a burning building.. just watching. I did not necessarily mean car accident, I was speaking more in terms of a flat tire, etc... people still slow their cars just to see.

Guess I get to play the devil's advocate here...
Someone said (and this seems to be the general consensus) that this show is "despicable" - It's not. Stupid and boring as hell? Yes. Despicable? No. All these people know exactly what their signing up for and can back out at any time. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. Sure, you can complain about the networks peddling this crap, but at the end of the day the viewers are the ones who decide whether or not a show stays on the air. Like sera said: If you watch crap, you get crap. And as much as I hate that this is true, reality shows make a lot of sense from a business perspective and are actually a benefit to scripted shows. A standard TV show with a script and actors costs A LOT of money to produce, and comes with absolutely no guarantees that it will do well in the ratings - most don't catch on. Reality shows are low risk/high reward. Even the lowest rated ones are pretty much guaranteed to turn a profit as they cost very little to put together. With the revenue that the reality shows bring in, the network can afford to take more chances with scripted shows that may not have been picked up in the past, and they can spend more money on advertising them. Yes, there are way too many of them on the air, but that's a problem with every type of show (don't we have enough CSIs, Law and Orders, and three-camera sitcom garbage already?). As far as Jericho being cancelled, I can explain that one to you, demon: It was cancelled because I've never heard of it before. How am I going to watch a show that I've never heard of before?

That's the problem!! LOL No one had ever heard of it!... But when you see it out on DVD...pick it up! Basically it was about this town called small Jericho... there is a nuclear attack on the US and all the major cities were hit. So towns have to become self sufficient since there is no electricity... no contact to the outside world.... towns begin wars against each other to gain control over land for food. Then there is a conspiracy of who was actually behind the attacks.... The states start splitting up into different sections and another Civil War is eminent. Man.... they could have done so much w/ this show.... but of course it just ended ![]() I understand the fact that Reality shows are cheap b/c there are unknown actors and they aren't having to pay for big sets......bah!!! The only "reality" shows I watch are Beauty and the Geek and Ghost Hunters on SciFi ( which I think that's more of a documentary type show) And yes I agree there are TOO MANY CSIs and Law and orders LOL.
