Special is perhaps a better word....and that is always a good thing.
I sort of aspire to the belief that everyday should be enjoyed to the fulliest. Embrace each and every new experience and notice something that you have never noticed before. The little things count. |

If you just take the time to notice.......everyone covets those moments
when time stands still and things are so readily apparent and clear. You can almost see everything that you could never see before. Take the time to love life. |

CL: Agreed--take the time to see the beauty in life and slow down at times to comprehend what is right around you (or what is close to you); that is the most precious gift anyone can give to themselves or others. What do you find so beautiful in life beyond the serene?

Eminatic:
This is something I found so many years ago. During a very difficult time in life I taped it to my refrigerator and as I took out coffee for the morning I made it a point to read it every day. The point is reading it (although it simplistic and rudimentary) there is much truthfulness when you dig into it. It helped me re-shape & re-engineer processes which were negatively ingrained in my mind/brain. http://tassiedevil.tripod.com/learning.htm Try reading & pondering it since it cannot cause harm.

the gist of it is: the adults resent the youth population for being rowdy teens, so they set up this fake "field trip" for a random class every year. on the busride they gas them and take them to a deserted island, and put exploding collars on them. the collars explode if they try to take it off, and they all automatically explode in 3 days if there is no winner. the game being that they all have to kill each other. winner gets to go home like nothing happened. i think its brilliant, one of the greatest movies of all time, i really urge everyone to see it....its called Battle Royale. |

I wasn't drinking with anyone special really, sera, just a few girls I had met at the local dive bar that night. I don't really know anyone here in suburbia and don't plan to stay long enough to bother changing that. I had lots of fun though; things got pretty wild. Why? Hey, it was a Friday night - gotta keep my life somewhat interesting!
As far as my favorite movie, it's impossible to narrow it down to just one. Besides the ones I've already mentioned: Escape From L.A. (How can you not love a movie about Kurt Russell kicking ass, hang-gliding into DisneyLand with guns blazing and surfing down the interstate in a post-apocalyptic L.A. turned into a prison for moral criminals?), Cry Baby (Johnny Depp in a camp-musical about the 50's made by John Waters), Kung Fu Hustle (martial arts meets dancing 1940's gangsters and Looney Tunes), Dead Alive (zombie sitcom starring a lawnmower), The Story Of Ricky (the most over-the-top prison/martial arts movie ever made. Words do not do it justice - watch this if you can handle obviously fake blood and guts (WARNING: Silly Gore). And that's just the tip of the iceberg - I have a movie collection that would make Quentin Tarantino blush... Battle Royale? Eh, it was ok... Nothing to write home about. It was fairly entertaining, but way too preachy. I've found that I really don't like Japanese movies too much as they all seem to have some pretentious message running the whole show. Even schlock Japanese B-movies about zombie schoolgirls try to make some kind of statement about the world - And that's not what I want from movies about zombie schoolgirls! The only one I can remember ever really enjoying was Wild Zero - fairly obtuse but a fun time none the less...

I find LIFE itself beautiful and full of adventure and promise. The cool
blowing on your face as olde man winter approaches, the soothing warmth of the sun great summer's day. Life is Good. |

im sorry you didn't enjoy Battle Royale too much...i thought it was beautifully done, and not preachy at all (plus Ando Masanobu is in it <3 ). Suicide Club- now THATS a preachy movie, also all the pieces dont seem to fit together very well at the end...
