Today it's a subtle suggestion of memories hanging in the City; watching the "theatrical shows" on the stages around the clubs...then the real stuff happening out in the open. It was the point of sexual freedom for me; being able to separating sex from love. See other parts of life, being a tiny participant in a room of strangers, figuring out who I was, realizing my wild side. Then learning to tame myself to fit back in the "College life". It was a cross over through experimentation to becoming an adult for me...learning to walk the line and that sometimes lines are our friends...

It seems many of the groups in that time originated outside of the US.
That maybe entirely not true but for some reason my memory seems to think so. Perhaps, I am just getting OLD but I sure don't feel OLD. |

For some unknown reason, I keep thinking about the song
"Mesopotamia" from that "era." Of course, this adds absolutely nothing of value to this thread so apologies in advance. Last edited by constantlylearning : 11-10-2007 at 08:55 PM. |

Many bands began out of the US and went to Seattle; then played here; later "Grunge" followed the same route. We were late on the East Coast getting caught up; MTV was recently invented! LOL! Age? Well, you have to be somewhere near mine to recall this stuff! Old is old but it's only a number not an attitude or reality! I still love AC/DC "shook me all night long" & Def Lep! And my all time favorite--MB20 & U2! This is all Oedipu$$ fault! LOL!

I wonder if alot of the 80s music was a backlash against the
dominant disco sound of the 70s. The grunge, punk, and hair band groups seem like polar opposites of the disco sound. Sera has me thinking and taking a long walk down memory lane. Although, I do like a lot of the muisc of the day, I still find myself gravitating back to the 80s music. Not only the previously mentioned styles but also some of the more contemporary artists and/or groups. I think I need a Starbuck's. |
