Those of you who, like me, grew up in the ancient pre-internet days, probably remember not having so much information about all things sexual so readily available. We often had to rely on our school friends, the Sears catalog bra section, or the illustrations in The World Book Encyclopedia's "Reproductive System" article! So what we knew about sex before a certain age was sketchy at best; totally inaccurate and ridiculous at worst. What are some of your humorous memories of misinformation you believed at the time?
Here are mine: * thought that sex involved "taking a piss" inside a woman (gross, I know...) * thought all babies were born via C-Section (had a huge argument with best friend once, who insisted on the truth) * thought "dildo" was the name for a part of the woman's anatomy * thought that all sexual positions must have an assigned number, because I kept hearing about "doing 69" Here's one from a friend of mine: * he apparently saw a cop show once where the serial killer's modus operandi was to spray a woman with red spray paint and leave them for dead after raping them... he remembers the cops arriving on the scene and seeing one woman, painted red, exclaiming "She's been raped!"... so for years afterwards, he thought being raped literally meant being sprayed with red paint! |

Not sure if I had any misconceptions. My parents were very open with me in discussing sex. Especially my dad who took great pleasure in getting me to blush and beg him to stop grossing me out.

I dont think I had any miscoceptions either. But I remember one my grandmother had- she used to think babies came out of your belly button! Also, she never heard of a period until she got hers in school!
Glad I know more than that!
