demonbuttercup is a jewel in the rough
Arrow

A father watched his daughter playing in the garden. He smiled as he
reflected on how sweet and innocent his little girl was. Suddenly she
just stopped and stared at the ground. He went over to her and noticed
she was looking at two spiders mating. " Daddy, what are those two
spiders doing?" she asked. "They're mating," her father replied.
" What do you call the spider on top, Daddy?" she asked.
"That's a Daddy Longlegs." Her father answered.
" So, the other one is a Mommy Longlegs?" the little girl asked.
"No," her father replied. "Both of them are Daddy Longlegs."
The little girl thought for a moment, then took her foot and stomped
them flat.
"Well, we're not having any of that sh*t in our garden."

Not a very nice joke, but there is a lesson there for all of us about the healthy or unhealthy influence we can have on young children!

Kids pick up on everything we say, especially at this tender age. It amazes me how many people think the kids "aren't listening" when they hold forth about some pet bigoted theory or other.

I think everyone can see from your many other posts that you are neither anti-gay nor mean.

Also, some "not nice" jokes can be funny; we often use humor to address uncomfortable observations on life. Kids often say things that make me stop and think about we are directly and indirectly teaching them by our example.

Anyway, my comments were certainly not directed at you (you seem a very nice and caring person ); it was a reflection on the lesson within the joke. I should have made that clear - my apologies if I didn't.

I agree with GuitarMan....

Whenever anyone tells a joke, all that political corectness crap should be thrown out the window... Why do people take jokes so seriously I will never know.........

I personally think the joke was great!

Guitarman and coolmacs ...

I see. So, it is ok for you to be over-sensitive about someone else's sensitivity ... it's just not ok for them to be sensitive in the first place!? Interesting double standard!

In any case I think the point being made was that there are valuable lessons in jokes, not that the joke wasn't funny or ok to tell.
