i'm on the pill - i heard you have to be on it for 5 days for it to be effective - if i have sex with him say two days after i'm onm the regular pill and off the sugar pill (2 days after my period ends) can i get pregnant?

Medications differ; however, the safe answer for all is to complete the cycle you are in and the next one. Check with your health care provider/doctor or pharmacist. What does it say in the instructions? Use a condom in addition.

The effectiveness days apply to when you first start that initial pack.
The package insert will usually say that you are protected after 7 days, but most DRs will recommend completing one full cycle (pack), and during that time using a backup method.
If you have been on the pill for awhile...and this isn't your very first pack, then you are protected everyday of the cycle.
