Does your lover look like you?

I'm trying to see how much of what I heard is true. Its seems like lovers tend to resemble each other. Not everyone you have had sex with but I mean a real LOVER. The one you felt strongly about or really attracted to. I am wondering if that's true so I can know better what to look for.

Bonus question: If they don't look like YOU, do they look like your parent?

Well the short answer for me is no. I'm short, skinny, brown hair and eyes. He's tall, stocky, blue eyes and lighter hair.

But he definitely has some of my dad's personality in him. And that is actually another thing they say....a girl will marry her father, a guy will marry his mother. My sister could almost be a double for her mother in law, some in personality and some in looks.

But all that is beside the point. You have to decide what you are looking for almost by trial and error. What do you want? Not only out of a mate, but out of life in general? This last one was not remotely what I want, why? What if anything WOULD I want that they had? There's no one, simple, proven way to find 'the one'. Do what I call a 'personal inventory'....sit and think about what you're looking for, if for no other reason than to be able to have it in the back of your mind.

Goof very much resembled my dad. Both had good heads to be bald. I look nothing like him, although I've been told I look like my dad's mom. And he is the only guy that I ever dated that resembled him. In fact none of them even really looked like each other, tall, short, thin, large, tattoos, no tattoos. hmmmmm
I think people start looking like each other after being, and living together for several years. maybe the same diet and enviroment has something to do with it.

Well there are Eddie Van Halen and Val Bertinelli. Supposedly Mick Jagger liked Biancha so much because he felt like he was having sex with himself.

I would not want a lover who looked like me. I am too hairy, don't like bearded women, could probably get accustomed to a bald woman but I prefer long hair. Back when Sinéad O'Connor shaved her head my wife used to say she looked exactly like me, but the bald Sinéad just didn't do it for me.

So I have to say no.

Eddie and Valerie resembled each other, but it seemed as time went on they could almost be each others double.

It's funny this topic was brought up because I cant count the number of times people tell me that my boyfriend and I resemble each other. We're both tall and skinny. He has light brown hair and I have dark brown hair and we both have differening shades of blue eyes. Our facial structure is even similar. We've been mistaken for brother and sister, which grossed us out just a tad I must admit.

But I can definitely see why others say that you're "true" love is physically similar to you. Crazy stuff!

NEver ever heard any of this stuff...............I hope my Mom never EVER
looked like those especially the lightly clothed ones............Bikini Clad gals.
Yikes

Yikes[/quote] I am hoping you are implying that is how your your girlfriend looks since you refer to your Mother and naturally assume your Mom is not your lover. I assume you imply; what you seek in a lover or girlfriend has no resemblance to you Mom, just to clarify what you wrote for those who may read!

Thanks Sera.........I reread it came across wrong. I meant that I cannot imagine
Mom dressing and "flaunting" like they do/did.........She is quite Elegant (Mom)
and terribly sophisticated. But who knows.........when younger.......YIKES.
Thanks Sera for saving me.

I have pictures of my mom looking pretty hot, in a one piece swimsuit, from when she was probably in her early 20's. Also one of her and her convertable about that same age. It is wierd to see mom that way, but she was a hottie.

I have occasionally noticed when couples look a lot alike, I don't know if there is any particular reason for it or if its just coincidence, it is interesting to think about though. Something else related that I have thought about is how couples at times appear similar, but its not exactly something in their physical appearances. Its more in their mannerisms, how they carry themselves, or a certain look in the eye at times. Has anyone else ever noticed this? I would say that it could definitely be an effect of spending a lot of time with one another, people do tend to adopt the ways of others after a significant period, however I have also seen it with couples that have just begun to date. So perhaps there is something to the idea that we look for ourselves a bit in our partner?, be it in literal physical appearance or merely in behavior.

BTW, my boyfriend and I look NOTHING alike. We are pretty much opposites in almost every way as far as our looks go. yet we are slightly neurotic in a lot of the same ways so that works out well hehe.
