Will valentines day break the ice ?

Well I'm part of a social club and of course "there is this girl"

now we get on relatively well although she is shy / doesn't talk much about her self. From the little i do know we are probably much alike. I've asked her out a number of times and although she has never said yes she has never said no either, the one time there was no "exscuse" she just giggled and hmed and ared until her phone ran out of credit - she did infact recharge her phone and ring me back to assure me that she had not just hung up on me (I mean she could have texted if she wa not at all bothered).

I'm wondering whether perhaps she's be more willing to go out together - say for a meal if I asked her out for valentines day, would it help break the ice or would she be even more disinclined as it's valentines day and going out on that particular day is more than just a couple of friends going out together.

Thing is although I've lived in the UK I've spent most of my life in Italy (as a social reject because I was "foreign"), so I'm mainly interested in hearing from people in the UK

Well, Simon, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. It seems to me that if she was itching to go out with you, she would have jumped at the opportunity long ago. Yesterday, tomorrow, or the 14th, doesn't seem to matter as there is no expression of interest in dating you.

No answer is a "no" answer.

Personally, waiting for Valentines day for a first date seems problematic. What if she already has plans? Better me thinks to ask her way ahead so that Valentines will hold more importance. It's a bit late now, so why not give it a shot, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Just do not be disappointed if you get the same non-answer.

If she does want to go out with you and is just to shy to say "yes", then do you really want to be involved in a mature relationship with someone who cannot speak up for herself?
