My SO is in the forces, so I have a bit of an honest outlook. It's a hard life, yes (he's a parachutist, so we get moved around quite a bit more) but I care very much for him and therefore no amount of military "bs" will alter that. An example of this is his placements. A few weeks ago he recieved orders to pack up hand head to the east coast (which is easily 20hrs away from where we were), I realize how hard it must be for him to be moved like this, and therefore I went with him! It's much easier if you accept it an move on than fight it.

I've been asked by my famiily how I can fall asleep next to a "murderer", and the answer is simple. I don't, he's a soldier not a murderer. There's a definitive difference between standing for your country (even if you don't agree with the cause) and killing for your own amusement.

You're in the Military Police, making you a completely different subset of the military. You keep the boys in check, and are the policing system in the military, therefore you aren't anywhere close to a killer. The only difference between you and a police officer is that you have your comission (and extensively more training) but you keep the guardians of the country on their right path as opposed to civillians who are noteably more evil generally than those who defend the lives of others.

Explain that to her and hopefully she'll understand.

If you change your life in that sense for her (leaving your dream job) you may end up resenting her. The best course of action would be to resolve this issue before looking at a relationship. If you two come to an agreement, fine. If not, there are many other people.

I was focusing on the differences that she would appreciate, instead of the fact that you have larger "killing devices" in her eyes.
