I'd base it on how much are you thinking about someone. I think you could fall for someone just based on attraction. You could know someone or have talked to someone before and if you're thinking about them all the time you might be falling for them.

It's an abstraction used by people to describe meeting someone whose pheromones line up with yours, and there's an undeniable attraction.
Think of the great couples - Romeo and Juliet, Wesley and Buttercup, Hank and Karen. And what's the difference, really, between love and attraction? I don't think they're mutually exclusive. So, in the end, scholars are still debating. I wouldn't worry about wrapping your head around it too much. |

I think it also depends on your definition of love. Personally I have a very conservative definition of love. I would not say I have ever been in love but I have most certainly fallen for people. I know when I have strong feelings for some one but I would argue that at my age I do not really understand what love is. But on the other side I have a friend that claims she has been in love four times by the time she turned eighteen. I thin you are talking about two terms that many people have many different definitions for.

falling for someone is probably that feeling when you suddenly realize it would be a big loss to lose contact/closeness with a particular person. enough barriers have dropped that you have let yourself get emotionally invested and you're at that point of no return in the walking away unharmed.
