Dating Ages - Yay or Nay???

Do you believe that it's illegal for 2 people to date who are 18/16? Do you believe it shouldn't matter if an 18 year old is dating a 14 year old? Do you think it should matter or not? Thoughts???

To give you an example, I'm 20 and my eyes are on a 16 year old

Listen to Sera, and then get some older friends. When you two are older, 4 years won't matter as much. Right now, she's waaaaaaaaay too immature for you.

20 and 16 won't work. She'll be too immature for you. People will look at you with skeptical eyes.

I wouldn't pursue anything with her, other than a casual friendship, at the most.

I think if you were dating someone you are fairly older then, and they were still in their more immature years while you were not, it is taking advantage of them. But if you didn't plan on being sexual active until she was older, then maybe it would be ok. 18/16 doesn't seem to bad to me, but 20/16 seems a bit too much of an age difference. If you really liked her, I think you could date her, but keep sex out of it until she was older and more mature with decision making. She be influenced by you because you are older then her, so make sure it would be somthing SHE really wants.

But hey, thats just my opinion.

I'm just wondering all of your opinions on just "age differences"? I don't mean to focus on me, but do y'all think the government should get involved in love? If two people love each other, should age be an issue?

I just know you'll start noticing the big gap say when you hit 21 and want to go to a bar/club that is 21+ or heck even a pool bar that is 18+.
It really starts to cramp your style!!!

I realized this when my roommate whose 27 is dating this chick that's 21/22...can't remember. Anyway, a lot of her friends are her age or younger. He is in a band and they were playing this gig...but it was at a club that was 21+.... so his g/f had invited all her friends not knowing this before hand...and the friends either left or just sat outside to listen.

I know this doesn't sound like much...but I was like damn I'm old and we are STILL hanging around people that can't get into a bar!!! LOL

I mean come on.... she can barely drive and can't get into an R rated movie!

I know young kids will say... Im in "love"... don't tell me I am too young! but the fact is although some are mature enough... most aren't. Heck what is trendy this week may be lame next month. They are constantly growing and changing to find who they are.

If it really is love, the kind that will honestly last, then it will wait until the government no longer poses a problem with regard to age. And if her parents disapprove vehemently enough, I think you'll be hard pressed to get them to believe you're not having sex, and you'll wind up charged.

I say again, get some older friends. At some point, you're going to feel like you've grown beyond her and it will be difficult to deal with her lack of maturity. You won't understand why she can't just grow up already, and she won't understand why you can't understand.

Once you hit 18, it becomes a whole new ballgame, buddy. You are an adult, she is not. Turn your eyes elsewhere.
