Taking the dive?

First post here and all as a friend directed me to this site. The situation I'm currently in is with a friend of mine as she lives two hours from me. I really enjoy talking to her over the internet as we had been in the past few years, we met before in person. We always discussed many topics and we shared many in common.

The thing is, I really like her and I really would like to date her. But there are issues as I am deaf and partially blind (lacking peripheral and night vision) meaning I can not get my license anywhere in the country as I am below the vision limitations. She doesn't has her license yet despite the fact she's 20. I could have my friends take me over to her house and go on a double date but my friends don't act their age after consuming drinks of their choice (there is no stopping them) and it wouldn't be cool if her parents took us around town.

I wish I could make regular visits like every other weekend but with the soaring gas prices at $2.99, it'll be very tough. I had experiences with long distance relationships with my last two girlfriends (since they had to be away for a while [just my luck]).

The question here is, should I really ask her out?

I'm actually a cuddleholic. That what affect my decision a little more >_>

Let's see - she lives 2 hours away, you can't drive on your own, and you really like cuddling. Unless one of you is planning to move closer to the other, I'm not sure it would be worth the hassle. But stranger things have happened I guess. No harm in at least asking and seeing how it goes if you think you can deal with all the obstacles that you two will face - you don't really have anything to lose...

i have to lol at ''soaring gas prices at $2.99'' is that 2.99 a gallon?? In the UK its nearly 4 pounds a gallon, thats about 8 usd.

back to the topic in hand. can you not get there by bus or find a meeting point half way between?

Correction! At £1.03 per litre, that is about £4.68 per gallon. So, tell me where you buy your petrol!!!

As an aside, how restrictive is your hearing? Will she have to learn to sign, or, can you carry on a conversation with hearing aid(s)?

Is it possible to ride a bus and stay over night for your date?

I would absolutely not include anyone who drinks for many reasons and no matter how good the intentions or how desperate the situation.

Thank you for the welcoming and my hearing is somewhat restrictive but I can still carry on a conversation with a hearing aid.

As for the buses, there is no bus that travels to that town.

Ask her out! You never know your luck and if you feel she's worth the effort, then make the effort!

I know it is difficult for you but do not let disabilities hold you back from socializing, although perhaps a different set of friends might help. Mix with all sorts. Have as much fun as you can - life is just too short. See what gov help re: transport is available. If all else fails - a horse?

This is an update of our situation...

We're very happy right now, we've never been so happy in our lives. We've been supporting each other and talking to each other as many times as we could. Despite the distance we had been very happy and our relationship gets stronger everyday. When we had our date on the 16 of Feb, it was our greatest night as we stood at the parking lot waiting for our friends for 45 minutes just holding each other and talking to each other.

I wish I could say that she might be the one for me but she could be. We're madly in love and couldn't ask for anything better
