Statutory Rape?

If somebody could outline any california law on stachatory rape that would be nice.

(I was mainly wondering if stachatory rape only applied to intercourse or if it was any sexual contact at all)

Here are a few sites for the age of consent. In CA the age of consent is 18, meaning at the age of 16 although you wish to engage you cannot consent, the law does not see anyone under the age of 18 as being able to decide for themselves. so yes he can be nailed for statutory rape. It's any sex act.

Read on line about it...look up the definitions...see how much your state enforces it, some states it's big in & not in other's. In general the majority of the cases it's the girls parents who find out and decide to do something about the relationship...

Okay, thanks. One last question...Sex acts do not involve hugging/holding hands etc. correct? Or maybe the question is how do you define a sex act?

Hugging, kissing and holding hands do not fall under the law. Sexual conduct such as vaginal/penile touching, oral sex, anal sex, and intercourse are "illegal" as defined under the law. It's considered inappropriate conduct of an adult with a minor...

I have seen some states big about it and other's who look the other way. But you have to carefully read the laws, they have a lot of exceptions.

The laws are intended to protect what the law considers "a minor" (although at 16 you may not be really a child, but under the law you are a minor) from falling prey, sexually, to an adult--to prevent coercion & exploitation.

Thanks for changing that; I'd seen it both ways when I searched, so I wasn't sure. Stupid mistake on my part.
