So, we've only chatted online, she seems really sweet. I guess my question is, do i get her something?

I would suggest do something small but sweet. A single rose is classy and romantic, but it doesn't suggest too much unless you are knowledgable about the Victorian language of flowers. (Guys, never get a woman a yellow rose unless you want her to be offended. They're pretty but never for a woman you want to be romantic with.)

Lots of women like flowers. It's a fairly safe but thoughtful gesture.

Stick with the flowers as sass said, yes get something but keep it small...a single rose is appropriate.

If i were in your shoes i do something comical.

Like get a valentine card that grade schoolers buy, pick a funny one out and ask her if she would be your valentine.

and for flower just buy a little plastic flower you cant put in her ear.

cause its a first date and your to romantic it can put unwanted pressure on her to be an attractive date.

and if you get her nothing on valentines day then your just an *******.

so the best route is to be creative and funny, not romantic

I wouldnt get her a flower, it cheesy as hell and should be left to actual couples. Dont get her anythimg, you hardly know her.
