You and I are too young to remember a time not so long ago when people (read: family, not to mention children) did not have cars and socializing was the venu of school, church, and community (barn dances, etc) activities that were heavily supervised. In those days many homes had front porches and swings and kids would sit and swoon under the moonlight. "A romp in the hay" was when adventurous teens went out behind the barn or up in the loft and played around in the straw.
Well, times have changed, and for kids who have yet to acquire a driver's license or who do not have ready access to an automobile, there has not been that much of a change. City kids ride busses in order to get to some venue. Kids in the heartland and everywhere else often rely upon double dating with someone who does have access to a car in order to meet and go someplace. Parents have always transported their child and his/her date and then picked them up, later. Embarrassing? Oh, sure, but it beats not being able to meet and socialize altogether. This is just the way of life when you are not yet able to drive.
> Is this a turn off to most girls?
I rather doubt it. Girls would rather be with a guy and probably being in the same boat, understand if alternate means of transportation are required.
> The only time i can usually meat with her is when other friends are there because they drove. so we cant really get to close with all the people around. What do you think?
Oh, yea--you can, sorta. Back in the day when more cars had bench seats and you were double dating, couples made out front and back at Inspiration Point. Even though more cars have bucket seats these days, this still doesn't prevent a couple from making out. What does is the stick shift. Back when these were a new sporty design they were referred to as a birth control device because they kept people from coming together.
If you want to date and are challenged transportationally, then become inventive and if this means relying on friends or parents, or public transportation, so be it. It won't always be this way. Make the most of the hand you're dealt and don't complain. Girls really hate whiney guys.
