What constitutes a long-term relationship?

I probably sound entirely like a naive teenager here, but I really would like to know if there's a concrete answer:

what defines a long-term relationship? And does that definition change considering the variables involved? (dedication, personal connections, history, etc.)

Thanks.

Browser will become famous soon enough
It varies by individual, and often by age.

Doc:
"What constitutes a long-term relationship?" (Emphasis mine).
Good definition of a LDR though.

Generally a long term relationship is something that lasts. (I know this sounds stupid). A serious relationship is where two people agree to no longer see each other casually, but be together in a monogamous relationship. A Long term relationship does depend on age and the people in the relationship. For example, teenagers might think a few months is long term, where adults in thier twenties may think 3 years is long term. It's up to you and your partner to really define the relationship you're in.

varies with age as well as a person while one person might consider a couple of months as a long term relationship someone would consider a couple of years a long term relationship.

In financial accounting, "long-term" means over a year. Just in case you were wondering.

But ... in finance, the functional equivalent of "forever" is about 30 years, while for people, the functional equivalent of forever is until you die. So double or triple it, and you wind up with "long-term" means more than two or three years. Q.E.D.
