showing rather than teling

hi like many people on this board i seem to have fallen for a relatively good mate of mine,we're not realy close but i want to get to no a bit more a bit and i no shes the type of girl i could have a great relationship with.
but shes in my group of freinds and i dont want to effect my friendship with her so without tellin her that i fancy her blaytantly is there fings i can do to observe her reaction and see if she likes me back?
