Does it always hurt?

Ok this sint about sex lol.
i have known this girl for over a year, and i feel we have grown very very very very very close, the only thing being in the way is distance like country kinda distance.
anyway i have told her that i love her, and she has said the same to me, but today, when i was chatting with her, she kinda said that my love was just an illusion, (WTTE), and right now i am lost i feel like i have been punched in the stomach a thousand times over, and we werent even girlfriend/boyfriend.
does it always hurt this much in these situations, and am i really to give up hope, no matter what she will always be a dear friend, but everything seems almost empty.
any replies would be more then appreciated

Yes, it always feels bad when relationships don't work out. Some more and others, of course.

It does get better with time, however. Just remember that life goes on and sometimes better things await you. In order to meet the right person, you have to keep looking. Don't give up. It may be an old cliche, but "There are a lot more fish in the sea." Keep fishing.
