I dont know how to approach girls

i have been attracted to many girls and there is this one girl who i cant seem to get off my mind. I want to go up to her but when i try i freeze. its like all intellectuality that i have is gone. i dont like my physical appearance at all. im 15 years old, 6ft tall and weigh 220 pounds. i am afraid that girls will reject me. ive never been to good with rejection. My self-esteem isnt that high and im afraid that if i go up to a girl and i get rejected, ill lose all of my self esteem. can anyone help me. i dont know what to do. My major problems are fear and confidence. Its just that i dont know how to solve them. can anyone give me any advice.

Hey twalve, I can relate to your problem. When I was younger (I'm 33 now) I was afraid of rejection and also, like you, didn't like my physical appearance. If there is this one girl that you are interested in but don't know how to approach her try this. Practice initiating conversations with girls with NO expectations of whether they will be attracted to you or not. Just get use to talking with girls and being comfortable talking about different things. This will help with your self confidence so that when you do finally talk to this girl that you are interested in it will be "no big deal". Also trying to play out the whole situation in your head before it happens will drive you nuts and increase your anxiety which doesn't help.

For my part, the self-esteem issue... There will ALWAYS be someone who doesn't find you attractive. *Heck, I've never understood all the fuss about Tom Cruise- and he seems to do alright...lol. * Anyway, rejection is just a fact of life. *You can't let it get to you. *

Okay... that was the negative. *The positive is that there will ALWAYS be people who DO find you attractive. *It doesn't matter what you look like (or think you look like... we are the worst judge of ourselves that there is). * You can be tall, short, fat, thin, young or old and that will be JUST what someone is looking for. *

I'll offer one more piece of advice... make some female friends. *This is easier than approaching someone with the idea of dating. *Let THEM teach you what a woman wants and how to act. * Heck, they'll probably even try to set you up!
