I think love is when you would do anything for that special person. You aren't focused on anyone else. Its when you have that person through thick and thin and they listen and pay attention to you.
It's a little difficult to explain love...you just really have to feel it you cannot explain it.

Webster's-
love: noun 1) strong affection 2) warm attachment 3) attraction based on sexual desire 4) a beloved person 5) unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for others 6) a score of zero in tennis love: verb 1) cherish 2) to feel a passion, devotion, or tenderness 3) caress 4) to take pleasure in Hmmm... it would seem to mean a lot of different things. The ancient Greeks knew this and had different words for the different degrees of love (I don't think they played tennis, though). I think different people have different ideas as to what constitutes love... and for a relationship to work, you just have to find someone with a similar outlook.

Would u run into a burning building if the person u loved just might be in it . The building was in flames and smoke bellowing out .
If u would run in to what might be your death for a person who may or maynot be in there you are in love.

like oberon said, there are varying degrees of love. i love my friends; they are great people and i enjoy their company. i loved my ex. I would have done anything for her, i cared more about her happiness than i did my own. i love my parents. i am grateful that i had such wonderful people to raise me. i love spaghetti. it tastes great. so many different possibilities.
the love i am currently searching for is a love shared between myself and a significant other that radiates and reflects off of each of us, surrounding us in it's glow. maybe that's too idealistic, but i'd like to hope it's possible. till then i'm satisfied with great friends, particularly a beautiful young lady who's been much closer to me lately
