How many is too many?

Okay I am 18 and I have slept with 8 different people in 3 years. But... for the first 2 years it was only 2 different people. Then... it was 6 in less than 2 years. Is this too many? Honestly.

nah i don't think 8 is too much, not that i've had sex with more than 8 ppl, but it is different for every one i guess, just be carefull and be safe all the time.

The fact that you're asking the question suggests you're concerned... if you're concerned, maybe it is too many.

Because it is a highly individual thing, it is an unanswerable question.

Seriously, unless there is some problem relating to this, don't worry about it. There is no set number of lovers you can have. Some people get lucky and find "Mr/Ms Right" the first time out and other have to search a little. Just remember to always play safe and use a condom.

ok, i'm gonna post a question as a reply hoping i get at least a couple responses to it:

My girlfriend has had several sex partners. I asked her how many once when i was drunk and she told me i could ask her anything about herself, and she said it was around the ballpark of 12 (but of course she's done it with some of them several times). I'm not exactly sure that number is accurate because later she "wasn't sure" , and when i reminded her it was twelve she was like "oh yeah, it was either that or 14" . anyway, that's not really all that important to my question. one point that is important to my question is that she is still good friends with many of these partners, which bothers me some when i think about it even though i know she hasn't done it with any of them while i've been with her (yet). Another point is the state she's in when she generally has these sexual experiences. supposedly she is usually rather drunk when she does it.

My question after all that seemingly random info is whether i should really be bothered about this. Sometimes i think it's a sign of what could happen in the future (she gets drunk with one of those good friends and does it with them), and sometimes just thinking about the fact that she's had so much "experience" bugs me. What should i do? what are some thoughts and opinions?

The best predictor of future sexual activity is past sexual activity. I would be at least as concerned about the drinking as the sex. Ignore it or move on.
