How likely to NOT miss periods?

Potentially getting pregnant is a source of anxiety for me. I am one of those people who worries about it and occasionally takes a home test despite never having missed a period.

I am wondering how irrational that really is. I know that it's possible to continue having your period if you are pregnant, but how uncommon is it?

To find out that it is rarer than I think might be a weight off my mind!

Usually, the bleeding women report during pregnancy is breakthrough bleeding that they mistake for a period. I don't think it's super common for periods to continue the whole way through. Technically, it shouldn't happen at all.. because that's how the body works.

Part of maturing as a woman is the knowledge and acceptance that any time a penis is in a vagina, pregnancy is possible. Perhaps you need a contacreptive method that gives you more confidence.

Bleeding is not uncommon during pregnancy - especially the first trimester. Nearly twenty percent of all pregnancies result in miscarriages, spontaneous abortion. Bleeding does occur in most cases. This often happens very early and we do not even recognize that we have been, briefly, pregnant.

For the most part, bleeding during pregnancy is identifiably different from a normal pregnancy. It may stop and start and will usually be lighter than a period. Other symptoms of pregnancy will usually be pregnant beyond the first month - swelling of the breasts, morning sickness. Once you "know" you are pregnant, any episode of bleeding should be discussed with the doctor or midwife.

Spotting early in pregnancy is not uncommon, even the implantation of the fertilized egg often results in a few drops. It is almost always very noticeably different from getting your period.
