You are talking about a "sperm count" test?
Really if you are young and healthy the chances of her getting pregnant is very high unless you are both using protection, which you should be everytime... Are you trying to get her pregnant? |

> My question to you out there is what would that doctor be called
Urologist. Ask for a referral or check the Yellow Pages. > My question to him was what is my chances to get my girlfriend pregnant and does it depend on just one of us, or both. Part 2 of your question is that it takes two to become pregnant Part 1 of your question depends upon a lot of factors. If you have normal sperm with normal motility, then consider the fact that any time your penis is pointed in the general direction of her vulva, there is a chance she will become pregnant. You are in fact playing a version of Russian Roulette. Instead of a six shooter with one bullet in the cylinder, you have a fully loaded cannon pointed at her. For more information, please answer the questions and provide more information. Right now, we are guessing as to what you are really asking. |

The doctor was putting you off. Sperm count is a relatively straight forward test during which you jackoff into a cup and, within a stated, short period of time, you semen is dyed and placed under a microscope. The slide used has a grid and the number of sperm in each grid gives an estimate of the number of sperm per decilitre. A "specialist" looks at this number and judges it to be in the normal range or high or high or low. If low, pregnancy is sometimes more difficult but not out of the question.
This is usually done only when fertility is questioned or, after vasectomy, to be certain the man is firing squibs. Here in the UK, urologists are available with a wait. My understanding in the States is that you have too many specialists (we call them consultants) and too few primary care doctors. Like the one who kissed you off.

We are using protection. I wear a condom and she is on B.C. shots every 4 months and she had her last one back Oct. 21 I want to say, and that's right around when we started having sex. We are trying to prevent of her becoming pregnant until maybe 3-4 years down the road when we want to start a family. For the sperm count, how long does it take usually to find out the results? Do they do it in the same visit? Is there a way for her herself to do a fertility test at home without going to the doctors for her to find out about herself?

In home pregnancy tests are available but her fertility is going to remain unknown until you two are married and starting to have your children.
Stop worrying about that now. Most couples have no problems at all and if you later find that you do, there are sufficient specialists to help you out. |

Ok here is the breakdown:
I went to go see the other doctor. I explained him the situation and he asked what are we doing to prevent pregnancy. I told him that she is on the BC shots every 4 months, and we use condoms. With that info he said we have nothing to worry about. So, that was a waste of a $50 Co-pay. |
