Given that it seems like you guys went to some crazy highschool where health was not taught and you both seem to be completely ignorant on sexual health, I'd say there's about a 90% chance she was too embarassed to ask the doctor about birth control pills (or maybe the doctor is a mormon or something like that which seems to be a possibility that her family may have chosen given your circumstances).

Your plan of holding off on sex until you have a job and she is done school while it sounds like something responsible and out of planned parenthood, is not. This is the type of stupidity that comes out of abstinence only programs. More often than not one of you will cheat on the other beforehand, and even if not, you will never KNOW this chick until you're having sex with her and have been doing it for quite some time.

Believe me when I say there's about 33% of her persona that you don't even know yet, and apparently she doesn't know either.

I just went back and read your original post in which you said in part:

Even without the information I provided in the link, above, you have got to be smart enough to realize that "rape" is not about an under age individual giving her consent or not. The law states that below a specified age she has no consent to give, therefore she can be in favor of and approve of sex all she wants, yet if she is below a certain age in whatever state, country, province, she resides, the LAW of the land dictates what is considered rape.
