When to have sex after giving birth vaginally

I know doctors say wait 4 - 6 weeks.. I'm 4 weeks postpartum and I feel completely healed. No more itching from the healing of the stitches or anything.. though I am still passing an occasional blood clot about the size of a nickle or quarter.. Would it be safe to have sex?

You have a doctor with the responsibility of taking care of you. Follow his/her advice. If you really cannot wait, call and speak with the nurse.

ouch, I could never do it 4 weeks post partum, I think I would give it a bit longer!!! I had pain up till 4 months after. I think I would wait the 6 weeks go to your OB appt, they do your 6 week follow up and give you the ok. The outside won't tell you how you feel on the inside, that is still healing. then again u could try it, if it hurts wait a bit longer.

Wink

In my experience as long as ur cloting you should wait. But if you BOTH don't mind go ahead try it slow cuz' it will be sore the first time back oh and be sure to have some form of birth control because you will be extremely fertile!! Also remember there are different ways to please another than vaginal intercourse lets not forget the forplay!!

i was 2 wks post partum and felt fine; my stitches healed and i felt great. i have a 13 month old son and a 3 month old daughter (tiring at times), but at 3 or 3 1/2 wks after i had daughter we had sex so yeah my depo shot did not take 100% full effect until 4 WEEKS POST PARTUM, so that woulda been nov 22 when it took effect. but when u feel comfortable on having sex again - yes it hurts the first 2x after having a baby but its worth it; just make sure you're on a birth control so u dont get pregnant again =]
