Pregnant - Nesting Behavior?
This was mentioned on a previous thread, but it seems better to make a separate thread for this one.
Since my wife has become pregnant, she's been getting into some activities that I don't find normal (at least for her). Some are due to my encouragement, but others make little sense to me. First, she's cooking alot and rearranging furniture. Second, she sleeps every chance she gets. She gets up at 6:00, but as soon as we get off work and get home, she eats, showers, and goes to bed. If we get home early (5:30), she'll be in bed by six in the evening. Third, even though it's hot outside, she sleeps under heavy blankets and says that she's cold (and I rarely turn the AC below 80). Fourth, she won't drink coffee anymore and won't take any medication of any kind since she thinks it will hurt the baby. Fifth, what's with the hyper sex-drive? Oh, and she also threw up again this morning. So how natural is all of this? I don't remember my mother doing any of these things when she was pregnant, but maybe I just didn't pay attention. |

Hi i was pregnant with IVF twins earilier this year but sadly miscarried in may, i just want to say that i was tired all the time, i would go to bed before 7pm and sleep until around 7-8am yet i was still tired all day. She should try and avoid drinking anything with caffeine in it and also should stay away from any deli meats such as ham and raw eggs, soft cheeses a and cold chicken should also be avoided and any raw meats. I wish you and your wife the best of luck for the rest for her pregnancy and also for when your tiny bundle of joy enters the world.

Eacfh woman is a bit different. Already said. There are certain patterns that we see and these are in a sticky on sex and pregnancy. In short, the first trimester is one of sickness and discomfort - low sexual desire. The second trimester is about usual sexual desire (sometimes enhanced). Third trimester is really different for each woman and creative positions are needed. Try.

Okay, so I read the sticky, but I still feel like I'm missing something....
It also doesn't fit that even though the first trimester is supposed to make her feel sick, even though she vomits occasionally and sleeps alot, she is more interested in sex than ever. Seems like a paradox, but then every woman is different. It also confuses me that even though she feels sick, she's hungry enough that she will eat alot. I think she's doing it on purpose because she knows she's eating for two.....Fortunately, her new job distracts her somewhat. As of today, she has been working for a whole week and has completed 40 hours of her training, which is enough for her to begin regular duties unsupervised. She needs 8 more hours of training in the next 92 days, so I'm sure she can meet that requirement! She was given her badge today, and is very happy. |

When you become pregnant your hormone levels are raising at ridiculous levels daily. She may be experiencing increased libido. Also, the appetite goes up and some women will eat anything not nailed to the floor--a good reason to be weight/health conscious. Also, some feel inclined to give in to the food craving and over-indulge b/c they are eating for two. Just have her watch her weight!
Enjoy the sex, remember you both are newly weds too! Nausea can be intermittent, vomiting random, appetite good as soon as the nausea wears off!!! At least she is not praying to the porcelain god ever few hours...I used to feel bad for the women I worked with, shift began at 7 am--most spent a few hours ill!

My wife does have a tendency to have a little extra on her. It never shows, of course, but it's there. I don't mind, because at least she's not anorexic and twig thin. I haven't paid as much attention to her weight lately because I figured she needed all the food she could get, but maybe I was wrong.

Read up on pica, Engage. Women not only eat food when pregnant!
Based upon my two pregnancies: sex up until the 6th month, "I'm too hot", "I'm too cold.", could not get comfy so I spent the night tossing and turning - what hubby refers to as "spin, spin, spin", drank Coca-Cola until he thought the child wouldn't sleep for the first 6 months of its life, weighed more than hubby (6'4" and 225) did, didn't vomit until he put steak sauce on my steak just that once, spent the final two months ready to kill anyone who even thought of looking at me cross-eyed and trying to polish everything to the nth degree of cleanliness including the furnace in the basement. If it didn't move fast enough, it got scrubbed down to the bone. Trust me on this: you're getting off lightly! |

Oh my! EEK, you certainly are a case! But thanks for the input. Why the Coca Cola? Also, did you have emotional problems? I've noticed my wife's usual mood swings are getting worse (mid-afternoon today during one of her breaks she walked into my office and burst into tears over nothing at all).
Thank God she stays still during the night unless she has a nightmare. There's no room for "spin" in our bed! |
