I always hear everyone talking about how wonderfully sensitive the clitoris is, and how it's painful to touch it directly because of the sensitivity of it.
Well, mine's not sensitive. Oh, it is a little bit once I'm aroused. But it's still nothing spectacular. So I always felt like I was missing out. My orgasms also aren't that great, and I think my insensitive clitoris is playing a huge part in it.
On to the question. Do you guys know of any potential causes for this, and, more importantly, do you know of any ways to increase clitoral sensitivity?

The actual pleasure comes mostly from the hood rubbing over the clitoris. A lubricant is generated under the hood that facilitates that.
It could be that your clitoris is slightly deeper in the body tissue than usual or that the hood is protecting it too well. Many women, about a quarter, never experience orgasm. While this is, in most cases, correctable it does take practice. Explore this during masturbation.
It's rare that I touch the clitoris itself when I masturbate. I always use the hood. I've tried stimulating it through the labia, too, and I might as well not be doing anything at all because I can't feel it.
I know I've had a true orgasm atleast once. There's no way it wasn't an orgasm. I've never been able to get that feeling again. Instead I masturbate, don't feel much, and then suddenly I have the post-orgasmic sensitivity.
I'm still a virgin, and I'm also worried that when my boyfriend and I start having sex I'll have the same problems.
It may be because of low sex drive. As for ways of increasing it use Sentia pill for women. They were very helpful for me.
i feel the same way as you, no matter what i can't feel anything that is being done to my clitoris so i have never been able to orgasm...usually i try to focus more on the pleasure i get from penetration.
I guess I'm lucky since I'm fairly sensitive, but I have heard of surgeries to alter/remove part or all of the clitoral hood. I think they're pretty rare in the US these days, though. Just like with alot of stuff, talk with your doc.
Oh my heck, I think mine is hypersensitive, lol. Sometimes I can't even stand for mine to be touched indirectly and sometimes feel like my hubby's hands are too rough to there..
