If it is made of a good quality silicone, it should not absorb odors. What I recommend for anything regularly in the vagina is a vinegar soak. This kills germs and smells. For diaphragm users of my menstrual cup, once a month soak in a 1:3 vinegar:water solutiuon for half an hour.

I have no experience with anal plugs but believe that this would work. Some forms of plastic or butyl rubber do absorb smells readily and there is no getting rid of them.

One must be VERY careful about using any kind of bleach on anal toys...the bleach may be too caustic and damage the plug.

Now, i'm a gay man, so i'm no novice to enjoying anal toys of all sizes and shape. To be honest, when we're done playing with a toy, we often wash them with soap and water compeltly, THEN we put them in the dishwasher (no other dishes or stuff).

The 120+ degree water in the dishwasher does a GREAT job!

Now, if u don't own a dishwasher, we find using DIAL ANTIBACTERIAL soap and hot water work best. Take the toy and put it in a plastic bowl wiht the DIAL soap and as HOT WATER as you can get.

If you're REALLY worried, put a pot of water on your stove and get it to full boil...then drop the toy in there (We're assuming its not an electric toy here, if it is, DO NOT put that underwater).

Boil it for 3 minutes! and you're fine!

ok raw, being a non-novice and all, what is the simplest way you would advise for being clean for anal play... my bf is kind of open to the idea, but i know he is a bit of a germ-o-phobe (for example, he hates making out first thing in the morning until he brushes his teeth lol).... so we havent done any anal play together as of yet ; its something i had enjoyed in the past with my ex-bf that i had dated for 4,5 years... but we were both pretty realistic about the fact that anal can be not always 100% clean and would just wash up after... but i dont feel comfortable doing that with my current bf, at least not yet , which is why i havent done any anal play with him, although i have at least mentioned that it is something that would be fun to do eventually.

Well Nurse, there is only one way to really help prevent any feces during anal sex, and that is by douching.

Getting a fleet enema and using it before sex is the best way to help clean out your lower colon and enjoy "cleaner" anal sex.

If you are both engaging in unprotected sex, it's also a good idea for him if you "clean out" so he avoids getting a Urinary Tract Infection.

I would second that idea. Sometimes with a lubed condom, you can avoid using a ton of lube and making a huge mess.

enema... somehow i figured the answer would involve an enema... well how much time before sex would you want to do the enema? cuz i dont see it as something i would want to do right before sex, but if u do it too much in advcance it must lose its effectiveness? ... as part of my job i have administered a fair amount of enemas so im familiar with the ins and outs of it, but ive no experience doing that for myself...
what about like having to use the washroom? how long after ah, lets say having a bowel movement would u want to wait?

The best way to clean an anal toy is to first only buy one that's silicone (silicon is non porous and won’t collect bacteria, bad smells, ect..) and after use boil it for about 3 minutes.

That's because everyone's breath smells like crap in the morning. Why would you want to "make out" first thing in the morning? It stinks!
