Catching STD'S

HELP PLEAS!!!
my girlfriend who i have been with for the last 2 months has started taking the pill.. im cool with that but im unaware of my chances of catching an std off her. she is a virgin but is there still a chance??

Thanks Oberon.

I figure an opinion or any slice of advice is better taken if well spoken, and I do hope to contribute as much as I can.

Lacking experience, all I have are my morals, my thoughts, and a curious mindset.

Welcome Leon. And Bravo!

Sounds to me like you have a lot to offer. That was good advice and well spoken.

I'm surprised no one has commented on this yet, but I would still be cautious for another reason. Although a virgin, and presuming she may have had NO sexual experience in the past, she could have still contracted an STD through birth. If her mother had any genital or HIV diseases, it (they) could have passed on to her during birth.

So, my advice would mirror the previous posters'. Get tested, both of you, and use a condom. If you think you're ready for intercourse, and believe the experience outweighs the risks, then at least be as careful as possible.

And by the way, this is my first post here. I've been reading on and off for about a month, and think this site as a lot to offer the curious. As a virgin myself at 19, I don't have much to offer though.

A few STD's can still be passed through other actions other than sexual intercourse. Herpes can be given to either partner during oral sex. Cold sores are a form of herpes. So if she had been eaten out by someone w/ a cold sore, she could have herpes. And if she has given oral sex to someone with an std like HIV, she could get that too. Both of which could then be passed to you through sex. But still this is very unlikely. You pretty much have nothing to worry about in that area. Its good that you are cautious. Use a condom just to be safe. Have fun.

Sexually Transmitted Disease-a disease that is passed along through sexual intercourse. The odds of a virgin having one have to be approaching zero. However, pestimist that I am, I would still USE A CONDOM. After all, you not talking about just preventing a pregnancy. It's your life (or her life) you are gambling with. Please, be as safe as possible-USE A CONDOM.

STDs aren't dealt randomly by fate to just anyone. You have to get them from someone else. If she's had sexual contact (even though it wasn't actually intercourse) with someone with a STD, she could have it.

You should both get tested, to be sure.

im w/ everyone else
there could be a slight chance if she's done other sexual acts like oral...etc.
but what makes you think that she has one?
all you say is she's on the pill and you are cool w/ that but you don't want to catch a STD... like the pill is giving her an STD or something.
just b/c she's on the pill doesn't mean she sleeps around or plans to. many girls have to start taking BC pills earlier on b/c they have crazy or extremely painful periods and the hormones help.
just talk w/ her... if you guys plan to have sex, its your right to know if she's clean or not.
